Thanks conntom! I couldn't believe they would do away with Osbourne Lights for one year anyway! Impossible!

Your welcome I love the osbourne lights and cant wait
to see them so again I hope the rumor is not true.
If I find more I will post it.

Hate to be a downer here, but if the Osbournes are saying it isn't going to happen, I believe them. The WDW website is not always the most accurate source of information - probably have a program that just copies over the new year automatically. Even though it states 2003, I wouldn't take that as a guarantee. They do have a disclaimer at the bottom saying that dates/times might change... I really hope this is all wrong as DD really wants to see this again - keeping my fingers crossed...

(Stroll down Residential Street and soak up the holiday glow of Mr. Osborne's over-the-top and all-down-the-street display of five million lights. Put on a pair of complimentary holographic glasses and watch as the spectacle takes on amazing new dimensions. And enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate while the nightly "snow" falls. And it's all included in your Disney-MGM Studios admission!)

I really wanted to see this. I'm sending in my E-mail now. It can't hurt, maybe we can make a difference! Gina

I think that they are probably leaving the info up, since it can only be a draw to people. Then, when the trips are booked, they will take it down. I love Disney to death, and perhaps I'm a bit cynical, but that's what I think is likely.

1 The right spelling of the name is Osborne not Osbourne
I E-mail the Osborne Family and when I get and answer
I will post it. You can go to the Osborne websight at
www.Jenningsosbornefamily.com I think you may like it.

:D

Is anyone else a little nervous about this being supposedly "temporary"-one year only? I can't help but wonder (I guess I'm being cynical and scared here) if Disney is going to try this for a year, get a "feel" for the impact it makes on travel to WDW at Christmas time, then make their decision about it returning. What about River Country? COP? Timekeeper? It seems there might have been other "temporary" closures with no plans to re-open. I hope I'm wrong, but I am wondering.

The original poster said that Jennings Osborne said they'd be back on next year. I really doubt that they would do away with it altogether. I wonder what they will do instead at MGM. I would assume that they will do something to appease all that were counting on seeing the lights...

A CM I know has informed me there will be no Osborne lights this year. They are renovating the backlot area and putting in an outdoor theater for a car/boat stunt show.

Well all I can say about this whole thread is    This was to be our first trip at Christmas and we were both looking forward to the lights and I can't beleive they are doing away with them this year. Rather or not they are comming back means nothing to me since this was our very big special Christmas trip this year and can't be changed at this point.
Hopefully enough people will complain that Disney will move them somewhere else this year.

One thing the name is Osborne not Osbourne and you can
go to the Osborne websight and read all about the family.
www.JenningsOsbornefamily.com I E-mail the family about
the lights no answer at this time I will post it if they do.

:D

This is OUR first Christmas at WDW as well, and we were really looking forward to this too. But what really annoys me, is that Disney is leaving the Osborne Lights up on their website, knowing that it will attract visitors. If they aren't going up, Disney knows it. Pull that off the website. They are more than capable of it. It's Disney.. the most organized outfit around. I can only assume it's remaining on their website is not an oversight.. but rather.. deliberate.

I'm disappointed.

:D

I already emailed them and Jennings told me that they would not be displayed this year but they would be back next year.

All I have to say is that I'm glad we're going in August and not December. We had contemplated going in Dec. again, mostly to see the Osborne lights. We really enjoyed them, but we didn't want to pull our daughter out of school again, so we opted to go in Aug. I would have been so upset if we pulled her out of school and the lights weren't there. Disney really should post on their site that the lights will not be up this year. I'm sure there are a lot of people that go just to see them.

I really hate that they won't be there this year. I was so looking forward to finally seeing them. Now I'll have to wait til probably 2006

If all you people are mad about the Osborne not being
at DisneyMGM E-mail Disney about the lights and maybe
Disney will give us a good answer or change there minds
and put them up?

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Please remember this is just a rumor. Osborne lights are listed on disneys web site as going up at MGM for Christmas 2003! That is good enogh for me!

Muffy - where did you see something on Disney's website. I am looking on the official website - www.disney.com. I did a search on Osborne and I get no results returned! I'd feel much better if I found something, but I tend to believe this rumor.

I have e-mailed Disney directly requesting a yes or no answer, but have not heard back. I will post IF I get an answer.
