I've been reading TGM's article about when to visit the Osborne Lights at HS, but he only mentions what to do on a Fantasmic night...

This has left me with a question...anyone have tips on the best time to go and see them to avoid the crowds on a non fantasmic night? We have bad memories of our last attempt to see them as Dh went down with a vomiting bug which decimated the rest of our vacation :sad2:, so we really want this visit to be a good one!

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Fantasmic shows on EVERY night (except the one night HS closes at 5:00 for a private party), so you don't have any non-Fantasmic crowds to factor in.

we always find the biggest crowds tend tobe at the beginning of the lights. The street gets very packed for the 'Turn on' of the lights. But it empties out quite well within the hour, this I know because I can't bring myself to leave the lights for ages after the Turn On!! On the other hand it is really fantastic when the lights are first turned on and worth going to see it.:)

They generally stay on for guests to enjoy for about an hour after park close. Crowds are light during this time.

What time to they turn on? And what would be a great time to get there and stake out a spot for a camera?

I've never been in the wintertime, so all of this is new to me, thanks!!!:cool1:

They turn on at 6:00 and I'd be there at least by 5:45. But don't expect to move at all once the lights go on. It's pretty much a mob scene.

Which is why we are planning to be there at 6:30.

We have found it to be packed right after Fantasmic lets out.

Last time, we waited about half-an-hour after Fantasmic was over, and then strolled over to see the lights. Much better plan.

Thanks for all the replies
LOL I'm going insane... why did I not realise fantasmic is on every night? :rolleyes1

So are the lights quiet during fantasmic performances?

They only changed it in the last few weeks. Fantasmic had been only a few times each week.

that's the best time to go and see Osborne Lights for obvious reasons.

I agree after the initial turning on of the lights and that crowd is gone say after an hour is a good time. Also, be one of the last ones there before they shut the lights off is another good time. This would probably be the last half hour of the night.

It's probably never going to be empty, but even if it's crowded it's nice to see. Most of what you see is by looking up anyways.

No. Why would they be?
Because most of the crowds would be at Fantasmic :confused3

Oh I'm glad I'm not going insane... I wondered why I had noted certain nights that it was on...

During an early performance of Fantasmic would be good for us. DS is 3.5 (nearly) and I don't want to keep him up mega late unless really necessary... with 7 hour jetlag sleep is a big enough issue already;)

Thanks everyone
