Ornament Exchange for this next year....

After today I have decided I will NOT be doing the exchange this next holiday season. I've had it! I have taken alot of gruff regarding this and I'm not doing it anymore. I took it last year and thought this year would be easier since I've done it once. I ran into a couple of problems and learned for them for next year so if you would like to do it and would like my suggestions on what went wrong that might help you, please feel free to PM when it gets closer.

Just wanted someone else to have the chance to think about doing it rather than just dumping it and not even starting it in October.

I can only imagine what a NIGHTMARE that probably was! I'm so sorry people have given you grief for something you were doing out of the goodness of your heart. People dont understand that you are not the one who failed at this, it was the people who didn't show up like they said they would!

I didn't participate this year (I had already signed up for other exchanges and I knew I wouldn't have time to get the ornaments for this one) but I really enjoyed it last year and I just realized that I never thanked you for hosting the exchange then. I am so sorry to hear that anyone has given you guff about the ornament exchange. You did a marvelous job of organizing the entire event, and as Dan said, your actions brought a lot of people closer together. In my case, I will think of April76 for years to come as I put the ornaments she gave me on my tree.

The person to whom I sent an ornament did not respond, but then I didn't do it for public accolade. Knowing she received it is enough for me. I will think of her fondly, too, through the coming years.

Thank you so much for a wonderful ornament exchange! It was my first one and I enjoyed it so much. I know it is hard work and it is sometimes not appreciated, but from one volunteer to another- your hard work was greatly appreciated by most of us on the board. These are the kinds of things that bring the DIS members close togther. Try to keep in mind that the guff came from a small person/people and that 99.9% of us think you are wonderful to do this for us!

awww, Chris - I'm sorry that anyone is giving you grief over this! It's certainly not your fault if people don't send their ornament, and unfortunately things DO get lost in the mail! I cannot imagine how you even organized this event in the first place!

I'm sorry that the exchange turned out to be so bittersweet for you. You did a wonderful job, and I am amazed you were able to keep track of everything so well. I participate in exchanges and know that I might not recieve anything (there are numerous reasons why it could happen), but that is the chance you take. Please remember, for every 1 person whose nose was out of joint about something there were at least 20 of us that appreciated all your hard work.

I am so glad you did this, and I am so sorry that some person or people are not happy with you at the way it turned out. If everyone would play by the rules, ie participate, when they sign up, the Chris would not have this sadness around her. I think we all should send cyber {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}
to overcome that sadness, and help cheer up our friend. I loved being in the exchange, reading all the I send and recieved my ornament, and I feel very sad for those who signed up but never got theirs. It certainly wasn't Chris' fault.
