I have an upcoming conference in Orlando this October. I have a couple of choices between hotels and have narrowed it down to these two. Has anybody stayed at both? Have a preference? What's better for families.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'll be traveling with my family, wife & 3 kids (8,6,5).

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

While you might find the Marriot a bit more convenient to get the the actual parks, I think your kids will love the Hyatt. We just returned from a three-day weekend at the Grand Cypress and we have been spoiled for any other hotel! The photos DO NOT do this hotel justice! The champagne upon check-in really sets the mood. :thumbsup2 The grounds are breathtaking, the staff is very accomodating, and the pool is simply awesome!! Your children will have a blast!! The family can also paddle boat, sail, water bike, for no extra cost!! There is horse back riding and lots of golfing! The food was fabulous, too! The Hyatt is just around the corner from Downtown Disney.

Wow it's nice to know those extras are included. It sounds like the pool is great. Thanks for the input.

The pool isnt just great, its AWESOME! Two slides, and its huge. If golf is your thing, well it doesnt get much better in the orlando area. All nicklaus designs, with the New course being a remake of St. Andrews. The south nine is closed for renovation currently. We stayed in the villas last weekend and spent a lot of time at the main hotel pool, you wont be disappointed...

I have been to both...and it is really a toss up. Both are great resorts. Since the other posters have supported Grand Cypress, I will support MOWC.
World Center also has a fabulous pool , slide, and waterfalls. There are 5 pools (I think) including an indoor pool and a sandpit. There's outdoor pool and ping pong tables, music playing, plenty of chairs, pool volleyball, and beautiful grounds. The rooms are better than the Grand Cypress. There's a cool glass elevator that goes outside the building, good food court, and I think a Starbucks in the lobby. There are a number of great restaurants including a Japanese restaurant that they cook at the tables (I think - never went there though).

We did the bikes and boats for a little bit when we stayed at Grand Cypress, but it was a bit rough in the 95 degree heat ! We were always in the pool.

Good luck deciding. You really can't go wrong with either choice. Don't forget the Hyatt resort fee ($15 a day ).

Thanks for information, it really sounds like a win/win with either one of these.

I have been to both, pick the Hyatt espeically if you have a car.

The Marriott "self parking" is a joke and they charge you for a parking lot so far away they need a shuttle, valet takes forever.

Ahhhhhhh, but if you are a Gold Passport member I think you get a complimentary upgrade to the Concierge floor...
free hearty continental breakfast, free snacks & soda/coffee(Starbucks ground coffee too!)/tea/bottled water/iced tea/etc available throughout the day, resort fee included, free refrigerator upon request, hearty hors d'oeuvres & drinks in the evenings, an actual concierge to help you with your plans (like dinner reservations or whatever)...
We always stayed there on our Hyatt points (almost made all my DH's business travel worthwhile).
Ooooo, plus you can easily see two Disney fireworks - both MK and Epcot from the Concierge floor (and higher actually...but we just like that floor! :teeth:)

agnes!
PS - The Hyatt also has shuttles that take guests to various WDW locations. I'm not sure how well it worked, we always rented a car. (I *think* the Hyatt shuttle is complimentary to the Hyatt guests.)

WOW - Great information about the Hyatt. I really like the concierge floor idea, I'll have to do some homework on the availability. Thanks for the input.
