Im due to go to Florida in September for the second time staying on international drive. I didnt drive last time and had to pay for buses to each theme park. Does anyone know any other cheaper option. I didnt use Taxis cos i thought they would be a fortune. Is there any two week transportation passes that would work out cheaper than booking each trip seperately. I a newbie to all this and have got some great tips from reading the forum over the last couple of weeks and i worship Simons Book on florida.

Thanks

Steve

Some hotels do run a shuttle service, so it's worth asking your hote. If they don't, for IOA, Universal and SW you can use the I-Drive trolley bus leaving you Disney to worry about. Have you thought about renting a car for just one week of your trip, you should be able to get an al inclusive rental of an economy car (will take 4 passangers nd a couple of bags) for about £150. I think that's likely to work out cheaper for four than either busses or taxis, certainly a lot more convenient. I'm certain someone will be able to come up with a bus plan that might help, if you are unable or unwilling to drive at all.

thanks vernon i didnt know the i ride went as far as universal or sw. I was trying my best not to drive. lots of peolple have told me its easy but im just not comfortable with it and dont really understand how all the taxes and insurance work out.

The I-Ride does not go right to universal, I think stops 14 or 5 are closest - leaving you around 5-10 minutes walk. We stayed at the Rodeway Inn and walked to Universal in around 10-15 minutes - this is a couple of stops further down.
The I-Ride stops outside Seaworld.

At the stop just before Seaworld (normally indicated by the driver) you can pick up the Lynx 50 to get to the TTC at Disneyworld.

Steve, if you do a search on car hire, you'll find a lot of threads with ideas. The company I usually use is Autos Abroad, they offer an all inclusive price so you dont need to take out any extra insurance and taxes are included. The only thing you may have to pay the car hire company is for a tank of gas. That doesn't mean the booking clerk at the car hire company won't try and sell you "extra cover" but legally you have the minimum cover that is legally required. In the US, I doubt you could EVER have enough insurance to cover all situations.

I've got similar deals with Ebookers and Holiday Autos but there are a number of similar companies.

Driving in the US is really quite simple, particularly if you're just going from I-Drive to WDW. Take I4 west on the way there, and I4 east on the way back :D . That may not be the quickest route, but it is the simplest :D .

Thanks guys. for all your help. my holiday is nearly 9 months away and im planning like mad lol.

thinking of getting my suitcase down from loft.

Hi Steve,
I don't know if this will help.
We have been to Disney 9 times and up until the last time we never hired a car, I was too afraid to drive over there.
I asked a few questions on here and decided to take the plunge.
The anticipation was much worse than the event
Within about 10 minutes I was driving on I 4 I did not have any problems at all driving in Orlando, I did have problems getting lost!! I could always find my way into the parks but constantly got lost getting out.
Now I have done it I could not go back to waiting for buses that are often full and the very expensive Taxi fares.

The car price is inclusive of all taxes and insurance if you take the all inclusive option.
