We called the Doubletree Club on Apopka Vineland Road. This is the hotel with the loud funky painting and giant pineapples out front next to Disney entrance at DTD.

We need reservations for April 14th before our stay at BWV.

The reservation clerk told us that the hotel changed to the Orlando Vista Hotel on January 1st.

Does anyone have any information about the Doubletree Club or Orlando Vista Hotel? Did you like it?

I'm a little worried about the change of ownership.

Wow! I had read in another post here that it was closing on 1/1 and being converted into condos! LOL I just did a bit of research and it looks like you are correct though in that they just changed ownership.

Here's some reviews on Expedia:

*You can also view photos and a virtual tour there.

Some more reviews on TripAdvisor.com (who still lists it as Doubletree Club):

We stayed at this hotel in 2/2004 (thanks to Hotwire!) and thought it was really great but obviously this was before the change in ownership. The rooms were nice (although maybe a tad on the small side for a standard hotel room) with new-looking furnishings & bedding, the Au Bon Pain restaurant in the lobby had great sandwiches, and you can't beat the location since it's basically right at the entrance to Downtown Disney and across the street from many restaurants, a grocery store, etc... The pool is small but we weren't there for the pool.

I was also able to find their website: http://www.orlandovistahotel.com/

Hope this helps a bit! ;)

Thank You Mommyto5,

The clerk at the hotel did say that they will be converting to condos. For now, they are the orlando vista hotel. Thanks for all the info.

I just really hope this place will still be great in April.

Hello!

I have not been on this board for a while, so I did not know the Doubletree Club has changed ownership. I stayed there in May 05 and very much enjoyed my stay. The location is very good and the staff was very friendly. Lots of restaurants in the area, and if you don't mind walking, you can make it to DTD in about 25 minutes.

Not much has changed yet. I got this hotel on priceline. The location is very good and there is a free wireless in the lobby. The rooms were typical hotel room still. I had no complaints.
Not sure when they plan on doing the renovations but it can only make it better :)

Sandy,

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you bid on Priceline? Also, what Star rating did you bid?

Thanks!

I cant remember 100%, but it was 2 1/2 star I think in lake buena vista. I paid 42$ plus all the fees and taxes.

Kansasdreamers:

We originally posted that we had booked for April 14th. The rest of my party decided to stay at POP so we changed the reservation.

We haven't heard anything new, good or bad.

You may want to check out trip advisor or expedia and see what they say.

Hi, I booked this hotel for May 26-28 with Travelzoo for $79 per night. Can you please explain to me how to use Priceline and get a lower rate with this hotel? I have never used Priceline before and so I am totally confused. Thank you all for your help. It is greatly appreciated especially when it comes to saving money, lol.

Does anybody have any recent reviews on staying at Orlando Vista?

it does have such mixed reviews on it :confused3

we are going on 28th July 2007 and i a bit concerned .

I talked with some at UG via email regarding this hotel since we pricelined for a couple of nights at the end of our stay. They gave it high marks saying it was really nice, friendly staff, but that the pool area was loud because of the DTD traffic. I'm not worried....

Bumping!! We just won this hotel on priceline for our arrival night in August for $42 a night plus taxes and fees. Any recent stays?

Just got back from 3 nights there. I thought it was fine. It's no Pop Century but for $42 a night, it was great. It is small. 7 floors, one long hallway with two elevators. My only complaint was that the place was packed and the elevator service could not accomodate the people. The hallway smelled badly (like old hotel) but the room was nice and roomy and the beds were huge compared to normal. The staff was exceptional. Everyone was polite and they handled all our requests promptly. I'd stay there again. Lots of young people, but I didn't notice it being loud.

Enjoy your stay.
