Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Nebo update

I called Nebo around 1:30pm Winnipeg time. Chicago time, that would be... let's see... divide the zones by a third, multiply by half... carry the one.... 1:30pm Chicago time.

I didn't want to disturb him and wasn't sure if they'd be even home yet, so I had two scenarios that I thought would happen.

1. They weren't back from McHenry yet... even though it's only about a 30 minute drive. Factor in the time for the smack over the head with the frying pan... followed by a second smack since Nebo's got a thick skull... then the surgery, recovery, etc... I thought I'd just leave a message saying I was thinking of him and hoped it went well.

2. They were back. And Smidgy would answer the phone since Nebo'd be too groggy or too in pain or too mouth swollen... or whatever... to talk.

The phone rings a few times and the machine picks up. A ha! Scenario #1 it is.

I start to leave a message when someone clicks on the line. Imagine my surprise when I hear Nebo's voice!

I won't go into detail about what we chatted about, but the important details are (and he'll tell the story in his usual witty repartee way)

They had trouble finding a vein... but they obviously found one eventually.
He said it went pretty smoothly
He had just taken (I missed the word... but I'm assuming it was 'gauze') a wad of something out of his mouth.
They gave him a whole bunch of fun new pills... but unfortunately, only the "little" vikes.

Thanks for the update Pkondz, sounds like he is doing really well all things considered. Go Nebo:cool1: Still hoping all is/was/ will be well. . . even with the little vikes:goodvibes

Glad he made it through...Nebo, feel better soon!

Ok, I still lives,,, but the novocaine is wearing off now.
She's at work, and I'm supposed to be a good boy and do what good boys do,,,like not have anything to drink after surgery.
We'll leave that collumn blank for now.

I'm reminded of the wisdom I once read on a gas station rest room,,,"as I sit here, broken hearted,, the numbness is gone and the pain has started." "But think of the man who took the chance, tried to moan and messed his pants."
Roger Frost

By the way,,, I got a call earlier that made my day,,, well, ok,,, didn't take much to make THIS day,,, but this call fullfilled that.
It was from the guy up north, just calling to see how i was doing and chat a bit.
Uh huh,,,, Chatting is high on my list right now,,, I think he was trying to catch Smidgy,,,, but it still was greatly appreciated from him, never talkd to Santa before. I told him I probably wouldn't be posting today,, and go ahead and update it here, and yet here I am knocking the shovel out of his hands so to say,,, doing it anyway.
Hey, you never know what tomorrow may bring,,, and If I can do some spouting today,,,, gotta go fro it.

Boy howdy, I'm so far behind!! Just getting well after another nasty respiratory infection. Nothing like finding out your allergic to an antibiotic, at the END of ten days of dosing! It was dicey for a while, but since the meds are out of my system I can BREATHE again! :confused3

Wow, you jjst found out now you are allergic to Penny?
So Cindy, what happens to you then,,,, especially after TEN days of swallows?

Please don't say that! :offtopic: In early Dec, we had a bat get in our house... twice!!! Heck of an adrenaline rush, getting roused out of sleep at 3am on a Sunday morning with a REAL LIVE BAT flying above your bed. And a second (or same??) one paid a visit the following Friday evening. Let's just say that Critter Control is still on speed dial, even though the hole in the chimney has been patched. Every time an errant curl of my own hair bounces in my peripheral vision, I think it's another invader!! :headache: Jumpy much???? Yeah. And I think I need a haircut.

Boy, do I know that feeling. Can't begin to tell you athe amount of times I've brushed and swatted away imaginary bugs,,,,,IN A RESTAURANT,,,but not from hair curls,,,,leave it, leave it,,,, but from "floaters" , people with eye issues know whtat those are,,,,little globs of material that float past the retinas in the vitreous fluid that fills the eye. This ranks sright up there with a dog trying to catch his tail.

Oh, I hate to hear that, Nebo. That really stinks. :worried:

Yowie! Good luck with that, I know what you're going through!! My dad recently had 2 cracked/broken/abcessed teeth removed, and is still in process of getting the partial fitted. I'll be pulling for you... um, I mean, thinking about you!!

Geesh, everybody's a flippin comedian!

 ((chuckle))

Well, glory be,,, I got a chuckle out of my Ramen joke from the Crimson Snide.

:grouphug: Hugs to all of us here who have been battling assorted illnesses and traumas. Here's hoping everything is looking up! :hippie: And high-fives and congrats for all the good stuff I've missed!! :yay:

Thanks Cindy,,,, this is still Cindy, right? Nice post,,,
need all the laughs I can get.

Just checking on you Nebo.

I sure hope everything went smoothly today and that you are resting comfortably tonight.

Maybe you can have some ramen noodles tomorrow. ;)

I have a feeling I already answered this,,, I'm so confused,,,but let me just say in response to Ramen noodles,,,, which is in a bowl downstairs as we spead waiting to be nuked,,,,,,,,,,,,

,,,,,,,,,,Oh joy.
And macaroni and cheese, and a hunk of cream cheese,, you know,,,, for something SOLID to eat as well.
And if I eat all myvegetables I can have desert,,,,dessert,,,French Vanilla Ice cream with choc. syrup,,,What? no veggies in that you say? Ok, hkow about I sprinkle a bit of onion salt on the ramen noodles,,,, that makes it legit, right?

So did you get the Novocaine, anesthesia, frying pan to the head or did you just take in a fuzzy cup?
!

Yes

Hope you're feeling better, Nebo. Having teeth pulled is no fun, but at least you aren't smoking any more, you won't have the nasty dry socket to deal with (worst pain I ever had besides giving birth :scared1:). Just don't suck on a straw while you are healing over the next week or so. :)

Hi Millie,,, yes,, I've played the dry socket game a couple timies in the past,,,, wow,,,that will get your attention,,,, I was trying to stuff Play Doh in the hole that night!

I chose blue.

"Mom, Dad's eatin' the Play doh,,, and it's my favorite color,,,," Yeah, kids will turn you in all the time.

Hi there Nebo and Smidgy! Just wanted you to know you're both in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all went well with the oral surgery and those nasty choppers are all gone (just the nasty ones -not "all" of them - I have visions of the Bumble from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"). I know you're in great stead with Nurse Smidgy on the job. Take care and remember - no straws for a few days.

Thanks Sammie,,, but I never did wear the greaser "straws" ,,,much to my greaser older sister's chagrin,,, I was into "duper' sneakers.... but don't worry,, I did draw the line on penny loafers though.

Oh, man! Going to the dentist early to do stuff you don't want. At least you should feel better afterwards, until the numbing stuff wears off.:thumbsup2

Oh believe me,,, the countdown has started,,,, have to finish this up.

Wishing you luck, pixie dust, prayers, whatever it takes :)

I can't believe they're making you wait so long - you'd think being in terrible pain would speed up the process!

Buy some frozen peas on your way home .... they make a good ice pack!

Wait, wait! are we talkining the dark green peas,,, or the light colored early June peas? I'm so confused.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled (all 4) many years back, and let me tell ya, those were some good pain pills :hippie: I wish I could remember what they were! I hope all goes well for you and you're feeling better soon!

Yeah, well, what pills used to kick my butt 20 years ago, my body now scoffs at.
Ha,,,, scoff,,, scoff, scoff,,, this your best shot? bring it on, you got nuttin,, you hear? NUttin,,,,,yeah that's my body nowadays. '

.

I told you already. I'm going to live forever.

Oh yes,,, how could I have been such a fool,, pardon me for forgetting this fact. And you said you 'd save a place in line for me,,,,but I haven't gotten the pass yet....

"While Marlin stands in the Infinity line,,, Jim has once more come to his rescue, interferring between Marlin and the charging rhinocerous.
"Phiiisht"!
Oh oh, Marling has accidentally shot Jim with the tranquilizer dart in the back of the neck,,, this will put him at a definate disadvantage..
If the butterfly net doesn't work,,, he is going to need somthing he can count on.

And as we see the big rhino getting the best of Jim,,,
so can insurance costs get the best of you,,, that's why Mutuel of Omaha has a better plan.
(yes, I'm sure I used this before,, so sue me,,,I'v got attourney Mike on my side,,,well,,, unless you use him to do the suit against me... hmm)

Wouldn't that be a good thing? "No, you're not going to die quite yet. Sorry, back to life for you."

Actually,,, I'm not sure anymore what my DATE is,,, I checked the back of my Birth Certificate,,and it's all faded away no where it says "expiration date".
( Oh yeah,,, we're bringing up all the oldies)

It's gotta be better then getting to the pearly gates and there's a sign saying, "detour"... and off you go to Hades.

Wait,,, waht if you get to the pearly gates,,, and you don't have enough pearlies in your mouth anymore? Huh Huh?

That was just in the news up here, sorta. How difficult it is to see your doctor on short notice and the only alternative is going to the ER.

Rigfht,,, and like ER's have oral surgeons and highly advanced retinaly speialists there.
I'm zipping through right now,,, please dont mind the typos,,, or eat the daisies,,, not going to backspace to fixd most of them.

To this day... Best. Surfer. Dude. Ever.

I don't know what his first name was in Ridgemont,,, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't this guy's first name, for that matter not sure his last name fcomes up right in the spelling department either, and I didn't want to tease him at all on his name,,,,he was't the most friendly guy I've had,,, and I didn't want to hear him start saying,,,

"IS IT SAFE?"

500 bucks! Why don't you just pick a concrete walkway somewhere and tip over backwards?

Worked before.

Didn't i just recently say,,,, "everybody's a flippin comedian."

Oh, please, please, please Smidgy. Video Nebo when he's coming around and post it. Please? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

Those videos are hillarious.

You know,,, it would have been boring this time,,,I had no idea what was going on,,, if they had done it yet or not,,, so I just kept my mouth shut and let them usher me out of the office. You' d think the hunkk of gauze sticking a foot and a half out of my face might have given it away?

AHAH

I wasn''t in La la land,,, it was more of ,,, "do I know you land?"

Did everyone see the one where the girl had her wisdom teeth out and didn't know what was going on?

Girl, confused: "What's in my mouth?"
Mom, patiently: "You've got some gauze in your mouth?"
Gir, still confused: "Wha's in my mouth?"
Mom, amused: "There's gauze in your mouth."
Girl, incredulously: "God's in my mouth?!??"

I had God in my mouth,,, along with the Son and the Holy Gauze.
Amen

But we'll all be there with you in spirit!

No wait,,, no more room in my mouth,, even spirits,,, ask the Holy Gauze!
(this isn't going to get me in more trouble is it? No,,na,,,he has a great sense of humor,,, right?)

Ok, I'm done for now,,,thanks all for caring,,, sorry if I missed ykou,,, I know I"m hit or miss lately.
What's driving me nuts is the fshing line hanging down in my mouth,,,my mouth feels like an old tackel box that needs cleaning,,, and ,, hold on,,, yep,,, it's 6 pound test line..
see ya

What?

So glad to see you posting Nebo, and with a sense of humor even! Hope the mouth doesn't hurt for long. Just remember, if 1 vike won't do it - take 2! Just be careful of the tylenol that's mixed in with the good stuff, no more than 4,000 mg in a 24 hr period - your liver can't take it! This ends the unsolicited medical advice period of your regular programming.

Editing my post to add this - after I posted this message I was trying to click the back button to go to the previous page, obviously clicked on the ad at the top of the page by mistake and was taken to a website for a local drug and alcohol rehab place!!!

Ok, I still lives,,,

It's alive. It's alive! It's ALIVE!!!

but the novocaine is wearing off now.

That's not quite how I remembered it.... but we'll let that go.

By the way,,, I got a call earlier that made my day,,, well, ok,,, didn't take much to make THIS day,,, but this call fullfilled that.

Really? That's awfully nice. Whoever it was must be a really great guy.

I told him I probably wouldn't be posting today,, and go ahead and update it here, and yet here I am knocking the shovel out of his hands so to say,,, doing it anyway.

Yes... yes you did. And yes you are!

So just for that, I'm changing my story...

Please replace: "It went pretty smoothly" with the following.

It went pretty smoothly at first. The doctor extracted the first three teeth, then Igor lurched into the room looking for a brain for his master's monster's melon. He quickly espied Nebo asleep and more helpless then usual. Snatching up a scalpel from the tray, he popped open Nebo's cranium and... Alas! The brain was far, far too small to be of any use! Not even enough for half decent motor function. The poor monster would be born completely prone to all forms of accidents and bad puns.

What? no veggies in that you say? Ok, hkow about I sprinkle a bit of onion salt on the ramen noodles,,,, that makes it legit, right? [/B]

right

"While Marlin stands in the Infinity line,,, Jim has once more come to his rescue, interferring between Marlin and the charging rhinocerous.
"Phiiisht"!

umm.... can I be Marlin? I'll let you be Jim. (You know it would only happen to you anyway, right?)

Interesting side note. I worked for a few months at the airport and one of the things I did was sell insurance... Mutual of Omaha insurance as a matter of fact.

Actually,,, I'm not sure anymore what my DATE is,,, I checked the back of my Birth Certificate,,and it's all faded away no where it says "expiration date".

Time to ask for a refund.

Wait,,, waht if you get to the pearly gates,,, and you don't have enough pearlies in your mouth anymore? Huh Huh?

Then you go from the pearly gates to the Colgates.

sorry.

Rigfht,,, and like ER's have oral surgeons and highly advanced retinaly speialists there.

Actually..... yes... and no. Oral surgeons no. But highly advanced retinal specialists? At one ER in the city, yes.

I don't know what his first name was in Ridgemont,,,

Jeff Spicolli

and I didn't want to hear him start saying,,,

"IS IT SAFE?"

brrrr.... I'll never forget that scene!

Take care.

p.s. let me know if your dentist in McHenry suddenly finds a bunch of diamonds.

Oh yeah, In know how far I can go with th e pills,,,, please don't worry,,, c'mon,,, it's a lot of just shtick,, part of the tr persona.... ya dig? I mean really, nobody reallykk thinks that I can't hear,,, and I cant' see,,, and am hooked on painkillers,,,, really,,,, or am married twice now to Smidgy? ... and,,,shoot,,, that last one di me in, didn't it?

Yeah,,, she's a sweetheart,,,,,, I'd marry her a third time if necessary...just don't tell her that.

Nebo!!! :)

I am so glad that you made it through the teeth extractions seemingly in one piece. I must have thought of you a million times today.

I really just wanted to post right quick to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope you are able to get a little rest tonight.

Morning sunshine! Hope you are doing well today. And you marry that girl as often as necessary to assure that it becomes way too complicated for her to figure out how to leave. That one's a keeper!:)

I came here for a smile and once again you delivered. My day yesterday was I don't even have the words. A little boy had to be taken by ambulance from my classroom.

At the end of the day he had a seizure. One of those sit and stare kinds. I was trying to talk with him and his eyes were moving and lips were moving but he wasn't being responsive. Long story short he had a history but we were not told nor did parents list his condition on his emergency card.

SMH!

All I know he is stable and the hospital kept him over night for observation.

I cant stop replaying those last 20 minutes of the day.

Sidenote: hey hockey fans I have a friend whose son plays for the pros but in their minor leagues. He was just picked up by Scotland to play overseas; what does that mean for his career and how does that help him?

It's alive. It's alive! It's ALIVE!!!

Uh oh, I feel a Dr. Frankenstein schtick coming on.
Either that or the birth of another Kardashian! :lmao:
(yes,, I know it's not protocol to laugh at your own dumb lines,,, sorry.) I just feel like I never use enough smileys.

uh, oh.

That's not quite how I remembered it.... but we'll let that go.

Ok,,, if you insist:
"AS I sit here broken hearted, tried to defecate and only expelled some intestinal gas instead"
"but think of the man who took the chance,,, tried to expell some intestinal inner pressures and and created an unwanted fecal presence in side his trousers instead. "

nope,,, doesn't work. :lmao:

(whoops, did it again)

Really? That's awfully nice. Whoever it was must be a really great guy.

Yes, ranks right up there with an insurance agent,,,oh, never mind.

Yes... yes you did. And yes you are!

So just for that, I'm changing my story...

I would while away the hours
consulting with the flowers
confirming with the rain;

Wit the thoughts I'd be thinkin
I could be another Lincoln if I only had a brain.

Oh, I , could tell you why,,, the ocean's near the shore,,

Yes,,, I could keepagoin, the scary part is that I didn't need
to google any of this,,,it's lodged up there where the Black Velvet can't quite reach these brain cells that are holding it.

umm.... can I be Marlin? I'll let you be Jim. (You know it would only happen to you anyway, right?)

Yes,, you are Marlin,,, I thought the casting was obvious,,, so glad though that you didn't ask to be the rhino.

Interesting side note. I worked for a few months at the airport and one of the things I did was sell insurance... Mutual of Omaha insurance as a matter of fact.

My first thought was,, "who goes to the airport to buy life insurance? DOH!
Was that were you had this person on the phone at your complete mercy begging you to no hang up on them again when they are rude?
Yes,,, I remember,,,,
everything,,,, mbwahaha

Then you go from the pearly gates to the Colgates.

Unfortunately,,, I'll remember that too.
sorry.

As welll you should be young man.

Jeff Spicolli

Yeah,, I didn't think the spelling was quite right,, his name is Sbigoli,,,,one of those consonant blends that does't feel comfortable to say,,,kind of like,,, Pkondz

But I'll be he didn't have a choice in his name.

brrrr.... I'll never forget that scene!

No kidding,,, I'll choose waterboarding instead.
Take care.

p.s. let me know if your dentist in McHenry suddenly finds a bunch of diamonds.

:confused3 I missed the joke. . . BUT, I'm glad your here and posting anyways!!! :goodvibes

No, Xlady,,, no joke,,, hugs are always a good thing,,, never have too many.

Nebo!!! :)

I am so glad that you made it through the teeth extractions seemingly in one piece. I must have thought of you a million times today.

Dee Dee, if I've told you once, I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate.

I really just wanted to post right quick to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope you are able to get a little rest tonight.

Thanks, and yes I did. The problem was that today rolled around then.

Morning sunshine!

Oh, Oliver! Hope you are doing well today. And you marry that girl as often as necessary to assure that it becomes way too complicated for her to figure out how to leave. That one's a keeper!:)

You're saying she goes on the stringer with the other bullheads? I MEAN Blue Gills,,,yeah, blue gills,,, oh, crappie,, I did it again, now she'll go back to that piano tuna again, but even though I lobster before, I flounder and I can do it again, so I'm not goiing to go into a state of shark. Ok, time to cut the carp.

I came here for a smile and once again you delivered. My day yesterday was I don't even have the words. A little boy had to be taken by ambulance from my classroom.

I cant stop replaying those last 20 minutes of the day.

Really sorry Mony,,, sounds like a terrible thing to go through,,,, also sounds like they are hoping their son had gotten over whatever it is and they can just pretend all is normal with him,,, but it still should have been on his card.

Sidenote: hey hockey fans I have a friend whose son plays for the pros but in their minor leagues. He was just picked up by Scotland to play overseas; what does that mean for his career and how does that help him?

If he's still only 19 or 20,,, I'd say it's an excellent career move for him,,,many players come from over there.

Don't worry Nebo, I know. When the drug/alcohol rehab place popped up I was thinking - Ad you are on the wrong thread! :lmao:

Yeah,,, she's a sweetheart,,,,,, I'd marry her a third time if necessary...just don't tell her that.

You keep on marrying her as many times as it takes - you are a lucky man. Did I ever tell you my husband and I got married twice? When he's feeling nice he tells people he loves me so much he married me twice, when he's feeling like a smart-donkey he tells people he's so crazy he married me twice :rotfl:

Ladies and gentlemen (and I use the latter nomenclature loosely), NEBO LIVES! No one can do seafood humor like that, while on pain meds and lacking several teeth than he had only 48 short hours ago, unless one is truly a Grand Master. The synapses must still be connected to the Mother Ship, 'cause that was truly funny. Stay thirsty, my friend.

Wow, you jjst found out now you are allergic to Penny?
So Cindy, what happens to you then,,,, especially after TEN days of swallows?

No, Penny-cillin has not been my friend since I was a baby -- This was a sulfa drug, which I have been given before. I didn't know until after, but my Mom developed an allergy to it in her later years, I just jumped the gun on this one and developed it sooner. And now my choices are dwindling!

What happens? Starting about 5 days in.... Low fever (attributed to the existing infection), red face and swollen lip (attributed to the steam inhaler that was supposed to help the congestion and cough), bit of a rash around lip and upper chest (attributed to Vicks vapo-rub), worse cough and difficulty breathing (attributed to weak lungs and the respiratory infection just not getting better), difficulty sleeping (attributed to the continuous coughing fits and congestion that would not go away), until finally the rash showed up all over. That's the only clear side effect that had no other explanation. If it had been some other kind of sickness to start with, I would definitely have called the doc a lot quicker. He had already had me quit one antibiotic to start that one. Anyway, once done with the Rx and sleep, BLESSED SLEEP, finally was mine for the first time since we returned from our trip! Then I just had to deal with the rash. bah.

So glad you're doing ok!!

wow,,, sorry to hear you had to go through all that, geesh.

And it's all because you cancelled on us last trip to Epcot,,,that comes around,, goes around can hurt.
Oh, wait,,,we didn't get to meet you that day at Epcot either,,, and what's been goin around for me hasn't been a whloe lot sweeter, so never mind... well, hugs to you,,, hope we both feel better,,, a LOT better, soon.

Oh,,, and Nowells? Stephanie? Nice software again Stephanie,,, that was a great clip you sent a link to,,, never saw it before and I was't too far from it.

I never felt even sleepy or at any time losing it,,, nope, nada,,,, then they were telling me to GET OUT! and helping me out of my chair with a two foot hunk of gauze sticking out of my mouth. (yes,, I know it was only one foot yesterday,,, in five years from now it will be 6 foot).

I can't beleive I missed our anniversary!!!! yesterday ,k friday, jan 25 was 2 years smoke free!!!!

yay! I am so proud of us!!! and so happy for us!!! I never really imagined we would do it. I pictured us being smokers for the rest of our lives. I will NEVER go back!!! (we can't anyway, we can only afford ne or the other, smoking, or trips to disney!)
