The restaurant BB has a review by the food critic that really bashes the Turf Club. I thought everyone would like to check it out. I'm sorry I don't know how to post a link.

Here is a link to a thread on the Restaurant board. Turf Club Thread

I've seen some pretty good, but not outstanding reviews, of the Turf Club here on the DIS.

Thanks Chuck. I haven't had the pleasure of staying at SSR yet or even visiting. Its on my list. Just thought others would be interested.

We ate at the Turf Club with BIL and SIL and thought it was above-average food quality. I thought that the steak was as good as Le Cellier and they have the same potatoes as O'hana (which seem to be a love-them or hate-them dish - I personally love them). I'll agree that the crabcakes are not very exciting, but I've yet to get a really good crabcake at Disney.

It sounds like this restaurant critic got food that was over-done. If you ever get food that is imporoperly cooked, you should bring it to the attention of the chef. Mistakes do happen in busy kitchens.

be careful i think the crab cakes have pine nuts or the sauce that you dip the crab cakes in.......

I have eaten there twice and both times i thought the steak was just as good as the yacth club steak house. the first time we had hamburgers & rueban sandwich it was very good. nothing like a hugh thick hamburger to sink your teeth into, only hamburger eaters would love it.

the prices are very reasonable.

Ribs are a hit or miss.... some ribs if they dont have enough meat on them can be dry and tough. You cant make a judgement on the restaurant unless you have sampled a few things, not just on one meal.

I posted a mini-review on that thread, but DH and I enjoyed our lunch there VERY much and it was enough for him to even start asking questions about DVC. He's very particular about his food and he loved it.

We ate there twice on our last visit to SSR..we had a great time and thought the food was very good...i ate a hamburger that was VERY good. We did try the crab cakes and weren't oo impressed byt them, but everything else we had was very good.
Oh and our server was Rudi...very nice and great service!!!

Scott Joseph has been doing restaurant reviews for a long while. He's usually generally favorable to WDW restaurants. This really wasn't what you'd call a comprehensive review--sounded more like a blurb in a series of "small" reviews on multiple restaurants.
And I never forget-he absolutely loved the old Juan and Only's at WDW, and it tanked after a few years. An absolutely wretched restaurant. He was enthralled that he servers would collectively yell "Fajita" whenever one was brought out of the kitchen.
So there you go---

Glad to hear that some of you have had pleasant experiences. I always make up my own mind but I thought everyone here would be interested.

I don't listen to the food critics either. I just take the chance and decide for myself. I've eaten at the Turf Club before the renovation and LOVED it! The salmon sandwich makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I don't know if it's on the new menu or not but I've got my fingers crossed for the upcoming trip!!

This review sounds like he made it from his desk! Did he even step foot into this restaurant??

The things that he did comment on were just off, to say the least! The crab bites are well loved by almost every single guest who tries them! Granted, the ribs were not the best entreee, but the Turf just got a new Chef and these have been changed dramatically!

Why is there no mention of the decor? The view? The service? This is just plain a bad review and I do not mean because of what it said about the Turf. It is bad because there was NO information! :furious:
