Orlando Security

This is not intended to worry or cause you to change your plans. Last night news announced that both College Bowl games and all theme parks were put on a high alert.
News was saying if you are attending any of these venues, be prepared for long security lines at the bag check area's.

Good! I hope security is on their toes, if terrorists cannot take to the air they will use the ground. All vehicles entering the parks especially trucks should be thoroughly searched, no flyovers near the WDW property should be permitted though thats basically been in effect for a long time. I would really be concerned about Christmas day and New years Eve as these are days when the parks are filled.

I have not changed my plans of flying down from Alaska to Orlando jan 3rd at all, even if something happens elsewhere I'm still going!

Doesn't matter much. I was in MKO in October and there were long lines for security then, even without the orange alert. No more flying for me. I learned that the hardware holding my ankle together sets off the metal detectors. Gee that was fun

We were in Orlando a year ago in Sept & was "orange" alert, too. We had no problems anywhere. If I didn't see it on the news, never would have realized.

We fly out of NYC, & the airports are always on "high" alert. Glad my dd didn't "notice" the National Guard w/ their rifels.

Safe travel "vibes" to all traveling this holiday season.

Didn't fly but went on a cruise this summer. I informed them of the hardware in my ankle and they took me aside and patted me down instead of going through the metal detector. Didn't even make me get out of the wheelchair. Wasn't a hassle at all.
Now DH did get a bit of a look with my bags. Seems that my folding cane looked like a gun. Fortunately I had them at the top of the bag and he just took them out and showed them.
