Has anyone ever flown into Orlando/Sanford air port ? Would you
recommend it or is just to much of a hassle in and out of WDW.

I have flown into both airports and it all depends on if the flight or price is of enough benefit. It is a smaller airport and it is about 20 minutes farther away. It also costs more for a towncar or bus to and from the attractions. I flew into it on TMA and I did so because of the cheap price and direct flights and times, which were a major benefit. If all things were equal, I would rather fly into the Orlando airport instead of Sanford. Also, I think if you were to be renting a car, it would be slightly more complicated to get to your location from Sanford.

We fly into Sanford all teh time and perfer it to MCO....Security is just as tight but because it is a much smaller airport it doesn't seem to be as much as a hassle....The car rentals are about the same $ too and lot quicker.....I like it....the only thing we miss is the little tram ride to baggage....My 6 year old loves that at MCO....Looks like we will be at wdw the same time as you tooprincess:

We flew into Sanford in November for the first time - while we did miss the variety of shops, etc. on the return trip after we checked in for our flight, it was certainly quick, and easy on the pocketbook!

We rented a van from National - right onsite - with no trouble at all, and the airport is so small that baggage claims, etc. are quick and easy.

I didn't find the drive to be a problem at all - but we were travelling on Sunday - when I-4 is not congested. We drove up Lake Mary Boulevard about 8 miles - stopped off at the store to pick up some treats and adult beverages at a reasonable price - then hopped on I-4 West for a straight shot to Disney!

I would definitely fly into this airport as well, if the price were right, since we always rent a car. Just a little something to consider, however, the rental car agencies close around 5 pm.

I've flown to/from Sanford a few times. Thought it's a bit farther than MCO, we prefer Sanford. It's about a 50 minute to an hour ride to WDW. We usually take the Greene Way, which is a toll road and can cost about $5 in tolls; the traffic is lighter (generally) than I-4 and it avoids the stop/start traffic on Lake Mary Blvd.

We usually use Southeast airlines. Recently they've changed their flight to a nighttime arrival....8:30pm. In the past, the rental car agencies closed at 5pm, and opened when the occassional late flight came in. While I was trying to locate the Sanford local numbers for the agencies, I was pleasantly surprised to come across later hours for Dollar...until 8:45 pm most nights. I haven't checked the others (National, Alamo, Avis, Hertz) as yet because I got a pretty good rate with Dollar.

HTH!

I flew into Sanford years ago on the old People's Express. I liked it back then! How can you find out what airlines fly into that airport now? I'm still searching for a reasonable price for our July trip.

Check out sanford website they will tell you what airlines fly in and out . Airport code is sfb. I know PanAm is one which flies out of New England. Not sure what you will find . GOOD LUCK

Cindala...Southeast flies out of ABE, Allentown, PA into Sanford/Orlando as well as St. Pete. I don't know what part of Northern NJ you are in, but it may be worth checking into.:earsgirl:
