Has anyone camped at, or can anyone give me any information about Orlando S.W./Fort Summit KOA campground?
Where is it located in regards to Disney? (water parks in particular)

We stayed there once. It is a distance away from the Orlando attractions, & is more like camping in a parking lot. The pool is small, & there's not many other ammenities at all. Tropical Palms is much nicer. However, if you are just looking for a place to park your camper & hook up to water & sewage, it would serve the purpose.

Thanks for this info. We were hoping to camp at FW. (Feb 20-Mar 5) However, it is full at this time. I would be willing to keep calling in hopes of an opening. But we were planning on tenting with our two dogs and I found out about the kennel rule. I had planned on bringing our dog crates. They are well behaved and seasoned campers. Kenneling would not work for us. So, I came to this forum in hopes of some other suggestions on a good place to stay. We have two teenagers that were looking so forward to the disney water parks. I had no idea the campground would be booked nor did I know of the kennel issue. I am very grateful I found that information out first. I looked up the KOA campground and came across the fort summit one. It said there was a free shuttle to disney, centrally located to all of Orlando's world famous theme parks, and the pool is one of the region's largest. I'm feeling a bit bummed about this. I'm not big on camping in parking lots. I did like the idea of the cabins.

I don't know the rules about tent camping. We always take our 4-legged baby girl, but we use our RV. I do know that the cabins at FW & TP don't allow pets. We've checked, because it would be much easier for us to stay in a cabin than drive the RV over for short stays. I don't know if Fort Summit would allow them or not. I do know that they are grossly exaggerating by claiming to have one of the biggest pools in the area. If they will accommodate your pets, & you have your own vehicle, you would be able to drive fairly easily to the parks. They are just off the interstate. I have no idea how their transportation works either, but I would ask for specifics if I were you. It seems like they're a little way out for their transportation to be really efficient, but I may be totally wrong. Have you asked Tropical Palms about their tent policy? This is my biggest complaint with WDW. They aren't pet friendly at all. Universal is very pet friendly, but much more expensive than tent camping. Wish I had a good solution for you. :( Feel free to ask, if you have any more questions. :wave2:

Has anyone camped at the Kissimmee KOA? Do you have any information about it? Are there any activities close by?
Do you know if it is closer to Disney (water parks) than the Fort Summit KOA?
Thank you
