What Orlando hotels have you stayed at (non-Disney) that you have really enjoyed and would recommend to others?

<Mods, please don't move this to the resorts board!>

I've stayed at a few...Gaylord Palms, Marriot World Resort, and most recently, the Wyndham Orlando Resort (NOT the one near DTD, but on International Drive). Also the Holiday Inn Sunspree a few years ago.

My favorite by far was Gaylord Palms. Themeing and beautiful rooms and grounds.
The Marriot was nice too.
Wyndham was not bad, but not great.
HI was a HI.

Hope this helps!

The Royal Plaza across from DTD. The rooms were HUGE!!!

We prefer offsite so have stayed many places. In order my favorites:

Gaylord Palms
Ritz Carlton
Portofino
The Peabody
Marriott Cypress Harbor

We had a room last Dec at the Peabody... Loved the beds... Loved the elegance... Kids really enjoyed the ducks in the lobby...

The only place off Disney Property I stayed was Homewood Suites on I-drive. It was great!

buena vista suites- has a good continental breakfast..clean rooms
raddisson- has a really nice pool.
marriot favorite off site resort...(grande vista)
westgate- wouldnt recommend it...(pushyPUshy)saw a cockroach in the bedroom.

Orange Lake Country Club.

My parents toured Gaylord Palms and were very impressed, but we've never stayed there.

We LOVE the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal.
Wyndham on I-Drive was decent and much less expensive. It's a fun and convenient place to stay.
We've stayed at a couple of Fairfield Inns which were clean and comfortable but no frills.

Thanks for the replies. Some of these places are really, really nice, but a little out of our budget. We are looking to spend no more than $150ish per night.

Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista, Residence Inn Sea World and Grande Vista! All 3 were great!

Definitely the Portofino Yacht Club over at Universal. Huge room, king poster bed, top quality toiletries, big fluffy towels and bathrobes, complimentary bottle of wine on check in, plus some good restaurants too.

Love the JW Marriot (it shares the complex with the Ritz) - been there a couple of times for conferences.

Also been at the Rosen Shingle Creek - loved that one too

Jenny :)

Our favorites offsite are Gaylord Palms and Caribe Royale (with the king whirlpool suite).

I got Gaylord Palms once for about $100 off Priceline. Betterbidding.com can help you see if it has been coming up lately.

My favorite Orlando resort/hotel are any of the 3 Loews Universal properties. Portofino Bay
Hard Rock
Royal Pacific
Depending on wen you go The Royal Pacific can be had for under $150 a night and it is deluxe. They have AAA rates and florida resident rates as well as annual pass rates.

Love Royal Pacific at Universal. If you use AAA or have an AP, you can get some really great rates!

We also enjoyed Cypress Point. It was a real bargain for a 2 bedroom timeshare. Hotelkingdom has some really great rates for this!
