I have been to WDW 11 times and know the ins and outs of it, but in all that time we have never ventured outside Disney property. Now I have friends that are going to Orlando in July. They are staying at the Dolphin in Disney and want to do a few days there but are also looking for other things to do. The problem is they are all squeamish and not big fans of "theme park amusements". I know, I know, some of you may be wondering why they picked Disney and Orlando then right? Well that is the other reason I want this vacation to be as perfect as can be for them.....They lost their husband/father on November 6, 2007 and his best friend also passed 7 days later. This is their first vacation since these difficult times. They are all females, mom 46, daughter 19, daughter 17 and daughter 10. Their losses came so suddenly and unexpectedly, they are still struggling to cope. He basically went to work one day, collapsed and died and it was the same with his best friend one week later. The saddest part is that a few months before that they asked me to help them plan a vacation to Disney and we never had the time. Now they want to go and I want to get them as much info about things they may be able to do as possible. All of your suggestions are much appreciated. TIA!!

Sea World is sort of the "anti theme-park" theme park. Yes, there are a few thrill rides, but the focus of the park is really the shows and animal exhibits.

Here's another vote for Seaworld. There's also the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. My kids loved it. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side, but worth seeing once. We also did Univeral Studios and Islands of Adventure. I'm a huge ride chicken and I really enjoyed both parks. I rode every ride in Universal (stationary seats in Jimmy Neutron) and the only rides I skipped in Islands of Adventure were Dueling Dragons, Hulk and Dr. Doom's Fearfall. We saw all the shows (the Hollywood Horror Make-Up Show is one of my favorite shows in any theme park) and really enjoyed the theming in both parks.
