Hi, We are planning on going to disney/universal in july/aug. Can anyone please tell me if the orlando entertainment book is worth buying? We will be staying onsite at universal and disney and will not have a car.
Can anyone tell me what discounts will be in there
thank you

They're still selling the books, and I haven't had any issues using any of the coupons. I'd say now is the time to buy, I think they're selling for $15 now. I have the Orlando book, and they have coupons for Earl of Sandwich, T-rex & RFC to name a few I can remember; just using those alone pays for the cost of the book.

Not sure I would buy it. Since the company has gone belly up, you have no recourse if a merchant simply refuses to accept the coupon.

We purchased a 2013 Entertainment Book to use on our Christmas 2012 and August 2013 trips. When we heard the company had gone bankrupt, I emailed or posted on Facebook to each of the businesses with whom we planned to use a coupon this summer to ask if they would still honour the offers. Every single business (approximately 8 in total) affirmed that yes, they would honour the coupons as printed.

To answer the OP's question........

If you are staying onsite at Disney and Universal and don't have a rental vehicle, I think the book will be largely useless to you. A couple of DTD food establishments are in there (T-Rex is one) but that's about it.

We get a lot of value from it, as we are devoted offsiters who always rent a vehicle, so we can take advantage of the car rental coupons (saving us $25 on each rental), the mini-golf offers (all buy one admission get one free), the discounted or BOGO attraction offers (Gatorland, Boggy Creek Airboats, Showcase of Citrus monster truck tour, Titanic The Experience, etc.), and the food discounts (Giordano's Pizza, Friendly's, Dunkin Donuts, Dairy Queen, Popeyes, etc.).

Well, that's good to know, but I still would not count on it. The last time we bought the book (several years ago) we had a couple of restaurants refuse to take the coupon. That was the last time we bought the book.

It won't be the end of the world if they refuse the coupons, but I am guessing there won't be an issue. I have copies of each of the manager's replies in my travel binder should anyone need to see the "back up" :thumbsup2 .

Good luck! :thumbsup2

I think part of the problem that we had was that the restaurants that were included in the book for our area were questionable to begin with. We have the same problem with restaurant.com. Every so often there is a good restaurant listed, but usually there is a reason the restaurant has to offer a deal. I don't necessarily think that is the case in Orlando because of the stiffer competition. Where we are there are many restaurants, but people eat out on a regular basis and the good restaurants have no problem remaining full.

I buy one evey year and it saves my family loads of money and the always have specials like free shipping $10 a book. You will save that at on one meal. I say it's worth it.
