Hiya, I want to go to WDW next year however was having trouble convincing anyone to come with me, my mum is coming this year however was not so keen on going again, as this is her 2nd trip and she is not really in to it, however I have managed to convince her to go again by suggesting we do one week in Orlando followed by one week at a caribbean beach, will this combination work and how is it best to book something like this? which caribbean resort will be the best to combine with Orlando?

I would have come with you :rotfl:

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question though

We did a WDW/Bahamas two-centre - which was very straightforward and a short flight. :thumbsup2 However you need to check out which Caribbean destinations you can get to from MCO. I wanted to combine Barbados with WDW but as far as I could ascertain, flights from Barbados only go to Miami so I lost interest... ;)

do the carribean beach part at the disney hotel of that name best of both worlds:rotfl2:

we're not coming from the UK as we already live in the Caribbean but we're doing a triple stay in Oct ....

Miami for a week
WDW for 11 days
Atlantis Bahamas for a week

we were supposed to go to Sandy Lane Barbados but our best friends from the UK suddenly told us they are vacationing in Atlantis so we switched to there - its very easy and convenient from the US, although IMO not "Caribbean" at all, much more US.

If you want a true Caribbean beach holiday my advice is St Lucia - wonderful island, very close to where I am, amazing beaches and resorts and not all built up and commercial like Barbados, stunning lush landscape and wonderful people. we love SLU and its an American Eagle flight from Miami through San Juan, easy. Then Virgin or BA direct flight back to the UK.

Other islands I'd recommend for "real Caribbean" - Anguilla, Marrtinique (french and a bit different), St Barts (very pricey), Antigua (lovely and laid back), Grenada (beautiful), Jamaica (FUN!!)

but St Lucia is top of the list and easy to get to from Orlando and then direct back to the UK

and if you want a nice resort .... try the Club Le Sport up at Cap Estate - we love it there.

I'd agree that either st lucia or antigua would be a better option, bahamas don't feel really caribbean.

Hi, with regards to flights st lucia seems like a good option as virgin fly to both orlando and st lucia from Manchester, will it be okay for a 6 year old?

oh yeah - anywhere with a beach is great for a 6 year old! loads of things to do like:

http://www.cyclestlucia.com/Canopy_Tours.htm
which is canopy tours through the trees of the rainforest,

theres lots of price ranges too - for budget theres something like Club St Lucia by Splash (which is cheap and cheerful, all inc, pools and beach - we stayed there once as we got bumped by our resort for one night and didnt have high expectations and therefore found it very reasonable for the money) up by the Cap Estate, in the north

or Coconut Bay resort, down in the south, again very nice.

Almond Morgan resort, lovely up in the north

Rex resorts have 3 or 4 places to choose from on the island

so many to choose from really.

Just be aware that American Eagle (American airlines) flies into Castries airport in the north, whereas international flights longhaul like the UK fly into and depart from the southern airport. Its about 1 1/2 to 2 hours between the north and south and resorts are either one end or the other.
