Any suggestions? We are flying from Des Moines to one of the Orlando airports. I thought there was something that you could get where they would take your bags from the airport to your room.

The lady at AAA was talking to me about something the other day about a car that would take us but that it would be $100. I told her we would just get a cab and she seemed surprised.

So was I when she told me the airport is an hour from Disney.

any suggestions? If I rented a car for one day, where would I drop it once we got done with it? I wouldn't mind having a car for one day, or howelse can I go to get groceries.

I am on the "airport/transportation" planning of our trip.

Sounds like you're talking about Disney's Magical Express. If you're staying in one of the WDW resorts, Magical Express is a free bus service that will take you directly to your resort. They also handle your luggage which arrives in your room a few hours after you do. This is only available if you stay at a Disney resort.

The airport isn't an hour's drive, but I guess it could take that long if there was heavy traffic. It took us less than 1/2 an hour to drive our rental car from the airport to the Pop Century on a Friday evening around 7:00 p.m. Traffic was fairly light at that time.

There are also towncar services you can take from the airport and they will make a grocery stop on the way to the resort if you request one. You can also get groceries delivered to your room from a service called Gardengrocer.com.

If you don't have a car and want to get groceries, you can always take a cab to a grocery store. It would be cheaper than renting a car.

Hi. on my last trip we took Disney's Magical Express. it was well worth it, my luggage was in my room when I got there (CBR) It is easy to find them in the airport. and you can relax on your ride to WDW.:yay:

Are you flying into MCO or Sanford?
If you are flying into MCO, take Magical Express and it's free.

If you have a Disney package you can recieve free transportation. The first year we rented a car because it was the same price as paying for ind transportation. Mears bus service offers transport do a search on them.

Disney's Magical Express is for anyone named on the reservation at a WDW owned-and-operated resort. You don't need to have booked a package, DME is for room-only also.

In addition, Mears no longer serves the WDW owned-and-operated resorts.

Go to the Transporation forum -- there are numerous "stickys" at the top of the forum, and you can read everything you need to know about DME.

If you're flying into MCO--no problem! You can simply use Magical Express if staying on-site. It's free!

If you're flying into one of the other local airports--and I suspect maybe you are since your travel guide said it was an hour away--then you'll have to find other transportation.

If youre flying out of Des Moines then chances are you are flying Allegiant Air and flying into Sanford....ME isnt available from that airport..

That's the airport we fly out of and for our upcoming visit I plan on using *********** Transportation.
