I keep reading that the security etc at the Orlando airport takes hours and you need to be there so far in advance etc....
Here is my story. It is Sunday afternoon and based on the crowds on the shuttle bus and at the airport I would say it is fairly busy here.
I arrived at Hertz at about 3:25 pm. By 4 pm I had returned car, taken shuttle to the airport, checked a piece of luggage at the Delta Kiosk, carried said luggage to security scanner, walked thru the Disney store, (did not stop and did not shop), cleared security at the gate (including taking off all jewerly and tennis shoes and dealing with a laptop) and caught the train to my gate.
Now a few suggestions. SURVEY the lines!!!!! For example, there are two sides to access the SW and Delta gates on either side of the Hyatt. The one on the SW side was practially empty, the one on Delta had about 10 people waiting to show their boarding pass. I just went into SW. When you get to the end of the cattle care ropes once again look around. The line for the scanner directly in front of the end was LONG. ALL of the others had two or three people in them.
My third suggestion is that some people need to learn to consolidate. The family in front of me had 10 little plastic Disney Bags. Ask the CMs at Disney for a bigger bag and consolidate those last minute purchases (they will give them to you, I am not talking about the shopping bags).
My fourth suggestion is for you men. YES, you! Your wallet, keys, change, belt and cell phone will set the scanners off. There was a LINE of men waiting on individual searches and I saw belts on all of them and half of them had cell phones hanging from thier belts. Since you can't go pick up your stuff before you are hand screened I know they carried that stuff with them.
