Anybody taken this walking tour? Key West is one of our ports of call during our December cruise. We don't arrive until 4pm local time so won't have time to tour Hemingway's house or Truman's Little White House but would like to do some kind of organized tour.

We plan to do our own pub crawl and hit all the famous bars - Captain Tony's, Sloppy Joe's, Margaritaville, Hog's Breath Saloon, etc. ;) And of course see the sunset at Mallory Square!

Just curious if anyone has done the ghost tour. I stumbled onto the website while researching things to do in Key West - Original Ghost Tours of Key West. Sounds like fun. :)

Hi Aprille.

It has been about 7 years since I have been to Key West so I dont remember there being a ghost tour. It sounds very cool though.

I did however go to the KW Aquarium, I enjoyed that. They have/had this huge "guy" made out of sponges, was pretty cool.

I hope you enjoy it, no matter what you do. Oh and the sunset there is so beautifu!

While I didn't do the tour, I bought their book....it was very, very good. I personally went to visit Robert the Haunted Doll and it was very eerie.

My family and I were in Key West two years ago, and we did the ghost tour. At first we thought it was a little corny, (our guide wore a black cape and carried an old lantern), but the more we got into the tour the creepier it got. I agree, the Robert doll tale was pretty scary, especially when it is being told in front of his house, looking up at the window he suppposedly looked out of.

There was a funny moment on the tour however. The guide told us beforehand to be prepared for hecklers, other people not on the tour who might yell or laugh as the group walked past them. He said if this happens to just yell, "You're doomed!", to the hecklers. He also told us NOT to yell this phrase on a certain street because there were a lot of elderly people who lived on that particular street and they weren't too fond of being told they were doomed. Anyway, we eventually get to this street and sure enough, a heckler goes by, and this guy in our tour group yells out really loudly, "YOU'RE DOOMED!" Well, I thought it was hysterical that this one guy shouted out exactly when he shouldn't have. The tour guide just shook his head in disbelief.:)

We did this 2 years ago when we went to Key West for a week. You will be heckled, but you will heckle them back. The tour was ok. It was very corney. A few people left in the middle of the tour. I was alittle disappointed with it, you just stood outside of the buildings and she told a ghost story about it. I was disappointed that you didn't get to go inside. There was an internet coupon for a few dollars off I think.

I personally love most of these tours. It's particularly cool if you get to go inside some of the buildings like catsrule said but even if not it's still interesting particularly if you have a good guide. Besides, you'll likely get to hear some of the history and stuff too which it sounds like you won't have time for otherwise.

Just think you are going to be 4 hours from where I live!:p Make sure you go to Hog's Breath Saloon, its better than NO breath at all!::yes:: Have FUN!

Wow! Thanks for all the replies everyone! I posted this on the Cruise Critic boards right after I posted here and still haven't received a single reply. :p

I was thinking of buying the book so thanks for the recommendation, Stepharoonie.

I'm leaning towards doing the tour. Sounds like fun. As Planogirl pointed out I'm sure a lot depends on the tour guide. (Much like Jungle Safari at WDW. Don't ya hate it when you get a lame guide on JS?! :p)

Thanks for the first-hand accounts, catsrule and luvflorida. The heckling makes it sound even more fun. LOL! And that's hysterical about the one guy who shouted out "You're doomed!" when he wasn't supposed to. LOL!

Christine - would *love* to do the Aquarium but our schedule just won't allow for it. We arrive at port at 4pm and I've never been on a cruise but I'm sure it takes a while to disembark 2000 passengers. And the sunset is between 5:30 and 5:45 in December and we don't want to miss that! The Aquarium closes at 6:30 so I just don't see how we can squeeze it in.

Faith - Come on down and visit us! We'll be in KW for 10 whole hours. :p ;) Don't worry - Hog's Breath Saloon is already on our must-do list. ::yes::

Thanks again, all! Much appreciated. :)
