Organizer Receives King Master Suite?

GO FOR THE MASTER KING SUITE!!!! You are the organizer of the whole thing. You deserve it!!!!!!! I seriously don't think ANYONE will mind at all.

I am going to the Atlantis in a little over 2 weeks (YIPPEE!!). We are staying at my timeshare there. My parents are coming, too. So I got a 2 BR lockoff. Which is a large one bedroom unit with a King master suite, and a small 1 BR unit, with a Queen BR. Mom and step dad will stay in the small side, which is FINE BY THEM!!!! They will be in Paradise, no matter where they sleep!!! (plus, they aren't paying anything for the unit :cloud9: )

I went to Atlantis for a day, I was on a cruise, this place is A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y GORGEOUS. Have a great vacation!

Personally, I would give it to my parents. Not because they'd "care" if the didn't get it, but I would feel that is the right thing to do.

FWIW, many people don't understandt he level of time/effort that goes into planning a great vacation (my dear family included) - and if costs are being equally split, they might not understand why you felt you deserved the best accomodations.

Either way, I'd discuss it all upfront (prior to deposits/etc)- that way, no one can complain.

We will most definitely discuss it all upfront. I drive my family crazy with all the details. Did I mention I'm an accountant. They're all laid back & go with the flow kind of folks. When I initially sent them the spreadsheet with the estimated cost, they were all overwhelmed. I had cost per person including cost per child. I broke it down by flying vs. driving. Eating out every day vs. cooking family meals. Plus ticket recommendation. They knew then it was a lot to organizing this trip. All they wanted to know was how much and when is it due. :rotfl2:

I'm paying for the majority of the house because one sister & bil has 4 kids and I want them to focus on getting their family to Orlando and paying for their MYW tkts. We're having a family garage sale over Memorial Day weekend. We'll put all the proceeds into our Vacation Fund. We'll have a second garage sale in the Spring next year.

Now my goal is to keep everyone focused and on track to pay their $33/month per person payment to Cynt's Savings and Loan. :teeth:

My thinking? Your parents should get the master suite. Or that is at least how I would organize it. I too would be the master planner in such an instance. It's just the way I am. But I would still defer the nicest room to my parents.

I totally say you should get it. I'm working on planning my April 2007 trip and man is it ever a lot of work!

I would think that the rooms should be assigned by need. Why cram a married couple into a small room and have a single in a king suite? If all things are equal, planner should get the better room but, if I was single and planned a trip, I wouldn't claim the master suite that other married couples or families could get more use out of it....I wouldn't put myself on the couch either. Plus, you will be on vacation...I would be more concerned about which pool chair I get.

If the are only one set of parents, I would give it to the parents. If there are two sets of parents then I would take it to not show favoritism.

ETA: I read your other posts. Give the Mom the best room. Show your respect for what a great Mom she was and give her the best room in the house. The queen suite would be for you and certainly nice with the bathroom.

Cynt, you have it right. Keep the King for you. Your mom will love the queen bed. She'll have all the family there to be with her. Everyone will have fun and you'll be the King of the family for planning such a wonderful vacation.

Cynt, you are my hero!! :worship: I am in the very beginning planning stages for a future family trip. You have given me some great ideas to begin my labor of love. Thanks so much!!!!!! Nothing makes a Dis'r happier than planning another trip to the World!!!!!!!

What you could do is ask other families if a room with a queen size room would work for them, with the kids in the twin beds. They probably would say yes, because that sounds pretty good! So after assigning everybody to a room with their ok, the one left is the King Master!

Now see...I wouldn't even worry about the beds. I would focus on the bathroom. I would first think to give the master to my parents, but then my mom has to have a shower (not a bathtub with a shower) because she can't step into a bathtub due to hip surgery.

You might think about if there are any other "issues" that would make one room work better than another for your mom? You can make the final determination when you get there.

Also, if this is really important to you. Talk to your mom about it and have her let folks know that she suggested that you take the king since you did so much planning. With your mom's support, it won't seem like you are giving her second best thoughtlessly (which you aren't).
