Organizational Tips for the Room???

For our dirty laundry I use the old army laundry bags DH had when in the army almost 40 yrs ago.

Love my folding clothes dryer with the clothes pins on it hang it on shower rod then if anyone showers before suits are dry I can hang it over on the closet rod only got to move 1 thing not a half dozen.

I always unpack the same way each visit too DH gets top drawer because he is tallest I get middle and DD if she is with us gets bottom this started when she was little an could not reach the middle drawer now I figure she's younger and can bend over easier than I can.

Once unpacked our luggage goes to the van.

I pack a laundry basket for our cereal an bowls etc have emptied it a couple times an actually had a laundry basket to go do laundry during our visit.

We have one area for our cooler and drinks always got extra drinks waiting to be put in cooler esp early in the visit.

Do you ask for the trolley when you check-in? I've only stayed at Deluxe before, this year is the first time at a value (Pop) and I'd really like to try the rubbermaid container tip. We all have rolling suitcases, but they won't fit as nicely as the plastic containers. I just don't want to have to lug the containers....

When we were there in January, the Luggage assistance was outside to the rleft of the main doors when exiting the building, to the right if you are outside looking at the doors.

Hope this helps. I found out that All Stars have Luggage Service and hopefully, also have trolleys for the guests to use.

Just back from the Poly yesterday, and we used a lot of the tips here to stay organized, but I wanted to add 2 more.

1. A pack of clear suction cups from dollar tree 12 /$1 with the little hooks. I stuck them all on the tile in the shower and hung bathing suit pieces from them to dry. There was a retractable line, but we always seemed to have so much wet and damp stuff.

2. We used a pop up hamper for dirty laundry, but we also used a 2nd one for shoes. Everyone dropped their shoes in it when we came back to the room and there was no more of that "Mom where are my shoes???" when I was trying to get out on time.

Hope this helps!

For dirty laundry, I hang the plastic bags provided for dry cleaning on one of the hangers in the closet and all the dirty items goes there. I replace when full, close them tight and they go in a shoe tote bag I carry (five kids). This works fine to us, every item we don't bring, gives us extra space to take souvenirs back home.

:cool1:

I love the idea of the hanging organizers for larger items (rather than cluttering up the vanity). I have one for all my cosmetics that rolls up neatly for traveling and then hangs when in use (clear zip pockets let me see what I have where).

So anyway, I started doing some searching online to see if I could order something for real cheap (I don't have a dollar store near by). I ended up coming across instructions for how to make your own. I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner. I have a TON of leftover fabric from all of my different sewing projects. So, I think I will sit down one night and put a few together to suit the exact pocket sizes/types that I think I will need for our trip. If anyone else is interested in trying this themselves as well...here is a link to some sewing instructions for one.

Just came across an awesome deal this morning on a full set of travel hanging organizers for $30 from Lori Greiner on the QVC website. Compared to the dollar store items it might be pricey...but for what you are getting it is actually a pretty good deal IMO. I ordered a set this morning rather than bothering to sew my own. Considering how often DH and I travel I know this will make all of our trips easier, not just our trip to Disney.

I love this thread--have used it for great ideas for our last trip in Sept. 2006. It helped with our room organization, even though we were at BWV. It was so nice to have everything in a specific place and the room all neat and tidy during our trip. We are preparing for this year's trip--first time in November--but our planning is a little more challenging this time because we are doing a split stay due to the length and time of our trip. Our first 3 days will be at POP and the last 7 will be at SSR. Obviously I don't want to have to take all our stuff into the room at POP since we won't need it all. It is a little overwhelming to try to figure out what comes in and what doesn't--can anyone with some split-stay experience help out? Any advice is appreciated!!

Am trying the Dollar Tree pop-up hamper on my trip later this month. They hold a surprising amount of stuff, plus you can carry your clean laundry back to the room in them (I used a WDW store bag last time for my laundry, and it was awkward carrying the clean laundry back to the room).

Also love the idea of the Dollar Tree suction cup hooks for swimsuits, drying lingerie, etc.

Power strip for recharging cell phones, digital camera, etc. We have four adults in our group, all with cell phones (and most with digital cameras). Electrical outlets are often hard to get to (behind furniture), or you have to unplug something you need (like lamps) to make room for rechargers. Power strips work great!
