What is the purpose of the SunPass, or EZ Pass...is there any reason why they are needed? I still use the cash lane for the tolls from MCO to I-4. Did something change that I don't know about?
I was just looking at the website and apparently there is a sunpass mini which is a sticker that you would place on the window. It's only $4.99 and works the same way as the portable. If your only needing it for one trip, that may save you some money!

Many areas are going cashless. As of now you can get from MCO to Disney and still pay cash. I don't see that changing anytime soon as they have recently redone the cash lanes on 528.
We ordered a Sunpass transponder several years ago to use while in Florida (always a rental car) and love it. Faster to go through the toll booths and no need to worry about having exact change (happened at a couple of off ramps).
We signed up with our credit card to automatically replenish as necessary.
We have been using Sunpass with rental cars for 5 years. We just make sure we call Sunpass and give them the plate of the rental car and the date we will be returning it. Never have had a problem. With the new Sunpass transponders they do not make any sort of audio signal when you go through the toll ways.
I placed an order on the 12th. I will post when it gets here. Noticed my card has been charged but today is a postal holiday so that might slow things down.
We ordered ours last year because of all the time it saves at tolls, some of them are high speed lanes with no booth to go through. In regards to the rental car just get the app for Sun Pass and when you get your renatl car you can enter the info right there, no need to call.

Thanks for the suggestion We go every year and rent a car, so I needed the portable kind. After our last trip when my husband accidentally missed a toll booth on our way to the resort from the airport and then our GPS led us astray when going to a volleyball tournament causing us to go through a cashless toll, we decided this would save us stress, time, and money! (We ended up paying way more than the cost of two tolls to the rental car company.)
