I'm about to get two of the PAP before the offer expires. The first time to use them will be in September 2018. My choices to order are on line or call member services. Anyone feel like one way of ordering is better than the other for a nine-month wait before picking them up at Guest Relations? I guess I'm just wondering if there have been any problems with pick-up for anyone.

Other than the blackout dates, is there an advantage to the PAP vs Gold? Better discounts or anything? My current gold expires in March, and I won't need one again until June, but will need to buy one by then to start booking FP+

The current offer (through 1/3/18) has the better pass for the same price as the gold pass. It allows you to go to water parks, a golf course and something else and has no black-out dates. You could purchase it now and not activate it until June 2018.

You should definitely buy the platinum now and activate in June. You get an online confirmation code to enter into MDE so you can make FPs prior to activation.

People have reported that ordering online can be a bit wonky, and that it has not worked at all for some. I have not read any issues about calling MS to order.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but back when they had the annual members meeting, I was following online with a site doing a live update of the meeting. During that, it said that the current DVC ticket deal would be extended through 2018. I haven't seen any confirmation about that since and everything on DVC says to hurry before the January purchase deadline. Did anyone else hear about this? I was going to hold off buying/renewing passes till later in the year, but I don't want to miss the premium for the price of gold deal.

***edited to add the link of the live updates from the meeting. The part I am referring to was at 3:10

https://*******.com/2017-annual-dvc-member-meeting-live/

"3:10 PM Shannon Sakaske, Vice President Member Experiences and Club Management for DVC, stated “I can’t forget about the ticket savings we are able to offer members at Walt Disney World, available for purchase through December 3, 2018. Save over 25% on…yeah, go ahead and clap, we love it. Save over 25% on a Disney Platinum Plus Annual Pass, or get 7 days of Disney Theme Parks for just the price of 5. These are 2 really exciting offers, and a continuation of the discounts and special offers we make available to the membership…”

TIA!

Based on everything I’ve read, Disney rep misspoke.

I called to renew mine Wednesday because the discounted rate was not showing for renewals when I tried to do it online. Was showing a much higher rate than the $505 it actually was.

I just ordered mine online a few days ago. It had issues if I went straight to the ticket page. Once I logged into dvc first, then the ticket page it went better. It linked to my account with no problem. I certainly won’t wait until the last minute. I also got an email confirmation with a barcode page to take with me.

I currently have Silver Pass (Florida Resident) and we just bought Direct last week. My Silver Pass expires on Feb 27th so I'm at the 60 day window for renewal. What is my best channel to renew and get the PAP for the renewal rate? Call MS or try online?

I think you have to call if you want to change the type of pass when renewing so I'd call MS.

@Ghostridethedolewhip
Call MS. We had upgraded (for free) to the PAP on our last trip and wanted to renew at the promo rate. Went online and saw the online renewal rate was NOT the promo rate ($785/person vs. $505). Called MS and got the PAP renewal price at $505. We had a 2/19/18 expiration date. I put the will call # into MDE, the PAP renewal is listed now, looks good!
