No it's not much at all. Add to that the shipping charges. It is actually customs duty you are paying. I used to order a fair amount from the US but this is the reason I stopped.

You will have to pay VAT (20%), import duty (% various depending on item) and depending on the courier they sometimes charge a handling fee for collecting the VAT and duty!
I've found the actual shipping costs from the US very high as well. I looked at ordering a baseball shirt and the shipping was going to be more than the cost of the shirt!
Yeah, I had a few CDs costing in the region of $10 each and by the time the charges were all taken care of they ended up around £15 (yes, pounds) a piece Similarly last year I enquired about a kids Disney journal/activity book from the US. Around $5 to ship in the US but $35 to send to the UK. The book only cost $25. I am making sure that anything I might want to buy online from the US is ordered before we go away this year to have shipped to our Disney resort. I pay enough taxes on my airline tickets (again, DD's ticket cost less than the taxes this year ) so I am going to make sure I bring back my full value of goods I am entitled to
The shipping charges can be expensive... I need to order some outfits from American girl for dd but their shipping is not too bad! I also need to order a new Cinderella bag ...my dd got one from bbb last week but it was taken from the stroller...I tried to get it in the stores but all sold out...Disney charge a fortune to ship !
