Ordering dinner items at lunch

Has anyone successfully asked to order a dinner item at lunch time at a restaurant? I am trying to set up ADRs during free dining time and there is just nothing available at a decent hour (not for me with kids). I have booked WCC and Le Cellier for lunch, but my favorite food items appear on the dinner menu. Just wondering if anyone has done this and where it might have worked. Thanks!

It is my understanding that you cannot get the dinner items at lunch...but sometimes you can get a lunch item at dinner. The restaurant can usually do a burger or sandwich from the lunch menu at dinner if you want. Not sure if this true everywhere.

... and occasionally they charge a dinner price for a lunch item ordered at dinner (especially if the restaurant charges different prices for the same items that are on both their lunch and dinner menus).
