We are celebrating my dd's 7th birthday at WDW in August. I saw on Disney Unwrapped that you can order cakes from the Grand Floridan or is there another place? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks
Jodi

We did it at the GF three years ago, just talked to the front desk before we went and it was delivered like room service and tasted great and was beautiful It was for my mom's 70th. Enjoy!

Actually we are staying at AKL and were going to order the cake from GF. We would just go over to GF and get it. Are there any other options? Does AKL make cakes?

Thanks
Jodi

I think any of the deluxe resorts can do birthday cakes for you. I know for a fact that the YC, GF, Poly, and WL do.

My DD is getting married in WDW next year and I have heard from many Disney brides that have done cake tastings, that the cakes from the GF bakery are the best they've ever tasted. I've seen quite a few pictures and they look incredible.

The GF bakery will deliver to any of the onsite hotels.

They will deliver? That's great! Is there an additional cost for delivery?

Thanks
Jodi

I may just order one while I'm there next month!

They do a pretty cool Mickey cake at the GF bakery for $40, I think. I'd post a picture of it if I knew how.

Is there anywhere online where one could view a catalog of what's available?

I don't think they have an online catalog, the only pictures I've seen are wedding cakes and groom cakes. Trust me, they are incredible. They will make a cake in any design that you wish. Keep in mind, the more elaborate the cake the more costly. I've seen groom's cakes that they've done in the shapes of race cars, top hats and guitars.

As to whether or not there is a delivery fee, I'm not positive but I don't think so.

Here's a picture of a cool wedding cake they did, the castle top is white chocolate. My DD is using that as her cake topper as well.

A few months ago I celebrated my birthday while at the AKL, and the concierge team sent a cake to the room.

I'm sure any AKL guest could request a cake be delivered to the room, and at worst be charged a small fee for it.

the gf bakery did our wedding cake. it was definately the best cake i've ever had, and my uncle even came up to me and said, "don't tell your grandma, but this is even better than her (family-famous) red velvet cake!" everyone loved it. we got a white cake with strawberries and white chocolate mousse filling. it was beautiful and delicious. :teeth:

absolutely beautiful! I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting hungry just looking at them!

Snurk............ that is so adorable! Where did you get that one made and if you don't mind, how much did it cost? What kind of cake and how did it taste?

The GF bakery did our wedding cake too. Chocolate with fresh strawberry filling. Best cake I ever had and many of our guests said the same thing.

Here's a pic of our cake

your picture came out fine! What a beautiful cake!

This has got to be the best thread ever! The pictures of these cakes are absolutely wonderful! Keep 'em coming - I'm truly enjoying them!

The Mickey cake came from the GF bakery. I called to order a b-day cake and they offered me two different kinds - a regular cake and this Mickey cake. If I remember correctly, the cake was $40. I thought that was a pretty good deal for the size, delivery to our room with the set up you see in the picture. I'm sure my description of the cake won't do it justice - it was probably more elegant than my tastes. It was a yellow cake with a butter creamish ganche in between the two layers. Even though the ears are brown, there wasn't much of a chocolate flavor to the cake. DW really liked it. I'm more of a chocolate man myself. One of my other option plans was to get a full chocolate cake from Gourmet Mickey at DTD. It is one of the fudgiest chocolate cakes I've ever had.

I'm going to attempt to paste the picture directly here in this post...

SNURK! You're a regular computer genius! Good for you for getting that photo on! ANd thanks for the description. Did you enjoy the cake? How far ahead did you order it? And , were you staying at the GF or another resort? ONE more thing! Who did you call to order it? THANKS!

Yes, the cake was good. Like I said, I'm more of a chocoholic. So I would have preferred some fudgy chocolately goodness. But it was DW's b-day, not mine.

We were staying at the GF. To order, I called the GF's main number and asked for the bakery. I ordered the cake 2-3 days ahead of time (DW's birthday was our second day). The bakery said they only needed 24 hours notice of order.
