Is it frowned upon at the upper end Disney restaurants if you just order an appetizer or two instead of full dinner? Often, the choices are more appealing and not quite as filling if you have eaten out earlier in the day. Thanks Gail

I did this at Spoodles and it was no problem at all. I ordered two things, a salad and a seafood dish. The maount of food was more than enough for me and the price fit our budget.

I do this most of the time, at WDW and at home. I have never had a negative experience with it....

Nope, we do this all of the time, or we get 2 appetizers and share and entree. No one has ever said anything about it. In fact, most of the restaurants (all that are Disney owned and operated) will split the meal between the 2 with no plate charges

We want to try this at San Angel Inn this year. I've always wanted to eat there because of the atmosphere, but have heard not-so-good reveiws about the entrees. So a solution is to have a drink and appetizer and enjoy the atmosphere!

Can you do this at the restaurant in the castle. I would love to see it and have a little somethign without having to pay the price for a whole meal that some of my group would no eat. Do they frown on it and can you just walk in to do it?

From all I've read, it's almost impossible to just walk in and get a table. In fact, it's hard to even get a PS months ahead of time.
But if you do get in --and assuming they do have appetizers(?)--I imagine it would not be a problem

You are paying for the meal so what difference does it make what you order. Being a vegetarian there are many times where the appetizer menu is the only thing that I can order from. I have learned to order what I want and not to worry about what others think.

We did it at the castle for lunch last April. DW ordered the small salad, I had the delicious mushroom soup, & we split the Focaccia sandwich. We've never had a problem sharing meals or appetizers at WDW.

I've never had a CM frown on anything our family ordered, big or small. We're there, we're paying customers, it's their job to help us be happy. By the way, another strategy is to split meals. When my wife and I want to try an entree but not eat a lot, we'll each order a salad but ask the CM to split the main course. It usually comes already divided neatly onto two plates, and we enjoy the lighter fare.

I've often been curious about this but from the other angle... just having dessert. Has anyone done that?

Bump.

Would like to know about dessert too. If somebody has done it was it worth it?

What would people recommend getting as far as desserts go?

Should have read this post yesterday or today before I started a new question about dessert at CRT this morning. :earsboy: I just called and got a PS for CRT at 7:30 on a night when MK is open late for EMH. The CM was very polite and noted on the reservation that the PS was for dessert only. He said NO PROBLEM and was very helpful. I thought this would be a wonderful way to end a day at MK.
