I'm thinking about ordering a cake to be brought out after our dinner at Kona Cafe, on our last night at Disney to celebrate our parents 45th anniversary. Can anyone comment on their experiences with doing something like this? Is ordering an easy process? Was the cake good? Any recommendations on what kinds are best? It would be for 6 adults and 4 children.

Thanks!

I have ordered a cake and the Cinderella Slipper dessert.

Ordering is very easy by calling the cake hotline and giving them all the pertinent info. A message can be added to the plate which makes a very nice presentation.

The cake was fine but I think we all liked the Slipper dessert better.

We ordered a Princess themed cake from Chef Brian from the Contemporary and had it delivered to Be Our Guest. I wasn't expecting it to be great but it was amazing.

Whats the Cinderella Slipper dessert?

1) Slipper dessert on a fancy plate
. . . chocolate or white chocolate, depending upon your location
. . . usually berries also on the plate
. . . plate decorated in script with chocolate or other sauce/compote
2) VERY nice to receive.
3) Only available if eating at a Grand Floridian eateries or Cindy's Castle.
. . . Citricos
. . . GF Cafe
. . . V&A
. . . 1900 Park Fare
. . . Narcoossee's
. . . All Teas
4) Ordering
. . . you phone the restaurant 48-hrs in advance of your ADR
. . . slipper will be delivered to the eatery for your meal (or for your Tea)
. . . you cannot order this to-go
. . . you must be at an eatery to get one

Rusty,
Is it still served with a white chocolate Castle?

Did it once at Cali Grill with no problems.

I have ordered specialty cakes with the most recent one this past August delivered to YSH (a TOT theme for DH's 50th). Very easy and it was delicious.

As for the slipper dessert, unless something has changed, I had 2 delivered to Cape May after our dinner just last year for both my daughter's birthday.

I just recently ordered so I haven't had the actual cake experience yet but the order process was very simple. I called the cake hotline and hit correct button for the resort I wanted to order from and you leave a message for the cake person with your info and they call you back either that same evening or the next day. They will give you a few suggestions if your aren't sure of what you want but you really need an idea of what you want before you call. I ordered twice, the 1st time I ordered an 8in cake to be delivered to Chef Mickeys for my DDs 16th birthday and the 2nd order was for my DSinLs birthday and since we are having cake the night before, I wanted something a little different, I asked for the tuxedo strawberries and she wasn't sure they could do strawberries in Dec so she had to call me back in a day or two which she did, and they could do them, so I ordered 10 tuxedo strawberries to be delivered to LeCellier, and they were surprisingly cheap, she quoted me $2.50 a piece, much cheaper than the cake, it quoted at $80 with what I asked for. But, they make it fairly simply. I just hope they taste as good as I am expecting.

I ordered one for our dd 3rd bday. For nov 8 at Coral Reef. Was a quick 3 min phone call, YMMV.

Thanks! The best part aside from the mousse and the slipper and the berries... :)

1) Maybe.
2) But, mouse-or-rat, is not my idea of a dessert.
3) Sure, maybe if starving or after three days of trudging the parks . . .
4) Besides, they are difficult to prepare properly or to tenderize.
5) Of course, maybe in a veloute sauce, with potatoes au gratin and white asparagus . . . *
6) Oops.
7) Wrong spelling.
8) Never mind.

* Velote is like bechamel, but with stock instead of milk as a base.

There is an entire thread about ordering cakes at WDW including photos of cakes and pricing that Disboard members have ordered.

I had two custom cakes made during our trip in early September - photos and pricing information for my cakes are posted in the thread (both of my cakes were from YC/BC Private Dining, but it is still great to get inspiration from all of the cakes).
