In order to do my part to re-stimulate the economy and encourage financial revitalization, I have just ordered me a D40 with 2 lenses, a remote, and 2 4GB SD cards. Here is the link to the camera.

I know its older, but the price is $100 less than the canon I was going to get, plus I get another lens. Everyone has to do their part! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

Congrats:thumbsup2

Now you're really in trouble:rotfl:

See, I started off with the D50 and the 18-200 (just so I wouldn't have to keep changing lenses) and now have 5 lenses and an upgraded body.

Thanks for the stimulation to the economy, and ENJOY the new camera, I know that I love mine!

I love my D40, I will have to look into the remote as I have been getting alot of shutter button vibration when doing night shots off a tri-pod.

I agree with the 2 lens thing, I bought mine with the 18-135 so I wouldn't have to keep changing lenses and it has not been off the camera yet.

Sweet pIx mark. Really good catch on the sea gull. Cant wait to see more

Great timing on the sea gull! I love how the water behind is still splashing up.

The first 2 appear to have a small amount of camera shake blur, I see from the EXIF that they are 1/60th @ 112mm and 1/50th @ 120mm, both ISO 200. Without VR lenses, the "general rule" for avoiding camera shake in handheld shots is a shutter speed of 1/(focal length * crop factor). Crop factor for Nikon DX cameras is 1.5, so at 120mm you'd be trying for 1/180th shutter speed. Just a general rule though, you might have gotten away with just bumping your ISO to 400, which would have put you around 1/100th.

The first two were literally the first two. I was still learning how the setting were adjusted manually. I saw the camera armor at walmart the other day, it is definitely on my list of things to get.

Congrats:thumbsup2

HA!! Ain't that the truth!

I started with the D50 and the 18-70mm lens and used my older 70-300. I have now changed the lens to the 18-135, upgraded my older 70-300 for the new 70-300 VR and added an additional 4 lenses along with upgrading the body to the D300 (with battery grip). Oh yeah, I also bought the SB-600 flash and added a diffuser. Lets not forget the 2 external hard drives for all those RAW images. And I wont even get into how many SD and CF cards and extra batteries I've bought.

Yep, your toast.

You can't control it. You can only hope to contain it.

Nice pics BTW!
