Hi all,

we'll be traveling to Disney in August, we have two boys whom will be 4 and 6. We'll be staying for 8 nights. I was originally thinking of just eating out 2 meals a day etc. but now i'm thinking about bk-fast. We'll probably be hungry getting up and the boys definitly will be. should i pack a bunch of bk-fast stuff on the plane? or do you think its just as easy to just order from the supermarkets that delliver since we won't have a car?

Has anyone ordered in thepast? what did you order? did you get it all on time etc.?

I'm thinking about maybe 2 bk-fasts out and the rest just grab in the room cereal/milk - muffin etc to tide us over till an early lunch.

any suggestions?

also, with a coffee maker in the room, do i need to bring my own coffee and cups?

My first question is where you are staying. We stayed at POR last May and we ate most of our breakfasts in the room as it was just easier. They have small refrigerators and small coffee pots in the rooms. We did use wegoshop to purchase some items for us such as bottled water, juice, milk, cereal, pastries, snacks, etc. They did a great job. However, we threw alot of stuff out when we left. The next time we go I think I will instead just pack snack and breakfast dry goods in a bag that is checked. Then, when we return, we will have space for souvenirs! You can buy milk at the resort (a little high, but if that is all you needed it wouldn't be bad). The other thing I want to try next time is ordering water from Staples. I've read several other posts where you can use your Staples reward card and have bottled water delivered directly to the resort for free. Several threads have indicated that this works well. It may be worth a try!

I have never ordered from a store, but i wanted to tell you what we did last August when we were there. We packed one of my dd's small suitcase(a childs size) with Pop tarts and we got the variety pack of small cereal's, we also put in cookies, preztles, crackers and fruit snacks. It made it a lot easier an less expensive. While we were getting ready in the morning the girls' would have a pop tart or some cereal(with or without milk, which they love) then we could get going and if my Dh and i weren't hungry it was no big deal. I carried it right on the plane with us so i knew it wouldn't get crushed. Good Luck!!

Wegoshop is a kind of personal grocery shopper service. You can look them up on the web at wegoshop. I'm sorry I can't post a link--I haven't been doing this long enough yet! Anyway, we simply called them and told them when we would need them to deliver groceries and basically "reserved" them. Then, by a certain time period (I'm sorry I don't remember exactly how long before arrival), I sent them a list of the groceries we needed. You can also include items like diapers, etc. Then, when we arrived at WDW, we called them and told them we were there and what our room number was. They delivered all of the groceries to us and we simply paid the bill and a surcharge for their service. I'm sure their site has the surcharge listed. I found them very helpful and the service was excellent. The problem, as I mentioned previously, was that we bought too much! I think if we packed it here and just took it with us it would solve two problems. We would probably not take as much and we would have the extra space that the groceries occupied on the way down for souvenirs on the way back. If you do a search on wegoshop here at the DISboards, I think you will find quite a few threads that may be helpful to you too.

By the way, I didn't mention that we had a coffee pot, disposable cups, coffee, sugar, etc. all in the room supplied by Disney.

We just brought it on the plane with us. We had one whole carryone for food and ds's toys, etc. It worked well.
We brought:

Bananas
Apples
Apple Juice boxes
Nutrigrain bars
rice krispie bars
granola bars
raisins
fruit snacks

Some mornings ds drank juice, but since I do try to limit the amount he gets, a few nights we would stop and get a little thing of milk and keep it on ice in the room overnight so that he had it in the am.

This worked for us, and didnt take much time, which is the biggest factor for us. Once ds wakes up, its time to get to the parks before he gets tired!

Hope this helped you.

We are leaving in February and I was thinking just like you. We are having one character breakfast, but other than that, just planning on eating in our hotel room. I am taking an extra carry on - a small wheely suitcase - with breakfast things - bagels, poptarts, cereal, breakfast bars, etc. I've also decided to do it for lunch things too - crackers, chips, PB&J. I am then going to buy my bread and milk at the hotel (even though it will be higher). Then when we are done with all the food, we will have something for the things we buy to bring back. I've already explained to my 5 year old that if we eat more breakfasts at the hotel and pack more lunches, it gives us more spending money to buy fun things - he is right on board with the idea!

Last trip we used www.wegoshop.com. I was very pleased with the service. The service charge at the time was quite reasonable--about $10 for orders under $100. I think there was some sort of coupon on their website.

I found it better than trying to lug all that with you. Don't forget, airlines are getting more strick about over-the-limit weights and charge a fortune for it. We found Wegoshop especially practical for ordering bottled watter--try packing that in your suitcase! You can even sepcify which store, like WalMart, and they will work with your coupons. You can order non-food items as well, like diapers, shampoo, toothpaste, all that extra stuff that weighs you down. Don't worry if you end up with some leftovers, don't you have leftovers at home? Also, we ordered through them halfway through our trip for things we ran out of, like pullups, etc.

Oh, and don't forget to order a styrofoam cooler through wegoshop as well. You can get ice in the hotel, and just ditch the cooler when you leave.

We're at The Contemporary right now and a few hours ago we got our delivery from www.gardengrocer.com. I spoke to the owner via phone a few times before our trip and called him when we arrived today to tell him he could drop our stuff off whenever. He had already done it - our stuff was at bell services waiting for us :)

I was very happy with the service. The did a great job & the owner was just as nice as can be.

And, if you're comparing it to wegoshop.com, keep in mind that gardengrocer.com has a $50 minimum whereas wegoshop's minimum is $100

Never heard of gardengrocer--sounds like wegoshop has some competition! I like that gardengrocer will just deliver the stuff without you being there. We did have to wait some for wegoshop. They want you to call them when you get your room number then deliver it to the room. Well, check-in took FOREVER! Then we called wegoshop with the room number. We really didn't wait much, about 20 minutes, but our patience was already a bit worn after the excessive check in. Maybe I'll try gardengrocer next time.

I just read through this one because I was thinking we don't want to pack diapers & wipes, etc....and I'm glad to hear of this wegoshop. I'm going to check it out!

I used Gooding's (www.goodings.com), a local supermarket. $50 minimum, $10 flat rate fee. We too aren't HUGE breakfast eaters and didn't want to pay a lot or have to walk and wait to get our food. Some of the breakfast foods we got include bagels, cream cheese, deli-sliced American cheese, yogurt, cereal, milk, bananas, grapes, and packets of instant oatmeal (use the coffee maker to heat the water!). We also got bottled water (to take a few to the parks each day), PB&J, bread, pretzels, cookies, stuff like that.

Gooding's is great because you don't have to schedule your delivery. They deliver to Bell Services (BS). BS calls you, and if you're not in, no problem, they leave you a message and you call for your delivery when you're ready. They even keep the cold stuff cold for you (Gooding's separately bags and labels the cold stuff). They don't deliver alcohol.

The listings on their website are very limited, but don't let that scare you off -- they deliver anything they stock on their shelves, you just include info in an e-mail. About half of my order was stuff that they didn't have listed on their website.

I'm glad to find these delivery services. Face it, if you're going to stay in a hotel more than one or two nights, you need "provisions" in your room. You simply can't eat every mouthful of food in a restaurant. Even if you could afford to do so, just the inconvenience! Late at night, you're somewhat hungry but don't feel like getting all dressed, go through the hotel, catch the bus, monorail, boat, whatever, get to the restaurant, wait in line, wait to be served, then come all the way back to your room. Much easier to go to your in-room fridge or cooler and pull out some sandwich fixings, milk, breakfast bars, etc. I've learned with two kids not to even consider a hotel room. We get at least a one-bedroom condo but much prefer a 2bdr, 2 bath. Having a kitchen and the extra bath are such a convenience and stress-buster. Its extra money, but if you hunt you can find such accomodations for more than you'd like to pay but less than you'd think.
