Okay, so I have been thinking about our first day at the World. I am considering going to Morimoto Asia; but thought we would want to relax and eat it in our room back at the hotel.

Has anyone done this at any dining place? Just wondering. I have a whole list of dining options for each day at each park. I want to present my options to the family and we like to vote on stuff. haha

I don't know about Morimoto Asia specifically. But as a general rule Disney restaurants are not equipped for, and do not provide "To Go" meals.

OH WOW! That answers it.... hmmmm... So if my DD's don't finish their food. They don't have to-go containers?

What are you going to do with it? Carry it with your for a couple of hours on your way back to your room? I bet they have some sort of container for leftovers, but I don't think it's practical to take it with you.

QS places definitely do not make items "to go" and they don't have containers for leftovers either. A place like Morimoto Asia being in Disney Springs where lots of locals will dine probably has containers for leftovers and may be capable of making items to go, but I think it would be more hassle than it's worth getting it back to your room. Especially if you're using Disney transportation. PPs are correct in that most park/resort restaurants won't have containers either.

The TS restaurants do have containers (paper boxes) for left overs...I've gotten them plenty of times...it's just that they aren't equipped (in general) to handle traditional "to go" orders where you would go up to the podium, place an order, wait for it, and then take it to go. The restaurants don't have the capacity to handle those extra orders. So to get food "to go", you generally have to make a reservation, be seated, place your order, and then ask for it to be boxed up. Also, they normally don't have plasticware or napkins, so you'll have to get those from some other location (e.g., counter service).

For CS locations, a few have some "grab-n-go" type items pre-made, but most CS locations also aren't equipped to handle "to go" items. The CS locations are even less likely to have containers...most commonly you'll have to ask for a second plate to use a cover if you want to take an item to go. I recommend carrying some Ziploc baggies if you want to try and take any CS items "to go".

Yes, the restaurant will pack up your leftovers.

They don't seem to do "take-out" orders, from anything I've read. I'm just speculating, but I would think it could put a huge strain on the kitchen. They need to get the orders out for the dining room and not worry about fulfilling "take-out" orders as well.

You can get containers for your leftovers, but you can't just order carry out.

Morimoto isn't a Disney restaurant so no idea what they do, but from what I have seen of it, I don't think they do carryout.

The restaurants used to do take out until people wanted to use quick service credits for a table service meal so they eliminated take out

Could we get BOG lunch boxed up? My DH has a watersport morning planned the day we have a BOG lunch ressie, but I was thinking about just ordering his food as usual then getting it boxed up and bringing it to him at the gate if he can't meet us at the restaurant on time.

I guess, but they only have very small cardboard boxes. You wouldn't want to put anything saucy in them.

That is just not true.
Many, if not most, Disney restaurants refused to do "take out" before the Dining Plan even started.
You have to make a reservation, wait, be seated, wait for food, eat some, then get a paper/light cardboard box at best, to take it out.

Correct. They didn't do carryout in 1998, and that was well before the DDP.

They don't do carry-out for one simple reason: they don't have to.

They can pack up leftovers, I never asked about carryout. I know with a meal plan, they really shy on "just packing it up". It always made them nervous when I asked for desert packed up togo, but they had no problem bringing the plate to the table and then immediately packing it as leftovers.

Morimotos has a phone number, call and ask :) There's a lot of restaurants I wouldn't mind carrying it back, not sure morimotos is one of them.

Okay.. Sounds good. We weren't going to use the Dining on Morimoto's. I will call. Thank you! I actually don't know why I didn't think to call them first. hahah.

couple of hours? no.... I was going to order... wait for it... and head back to hotel to eat and swim.

It was just a thought. I know my family likes to lounge & swim. We will have plenty of days in parks, Disney Springs, & MK twice. So I was thinking of different ideas for lounging at the hotel but still eating from the places we want.

Morimosto is a perfect place for the majority of my family but for 2 of them, not so much. I figured if I got it to-go then they can grab something from our hotel CS and head on up to the room
