Orbitz: tell me why i shouldn't

So I booked a room-only reservation with Disney at Pop Century for 3 nights in February with the Disney Visa discount. I've been checking Orbitz thinking that I could 'stack' their current % off discount on top of that (if I made a new reservation), but it's giving me a total that's actually a couple dollars more than what I'm already paying through Disney....is anyone else having this issue? Does it not give you the true total until you're at the end of the transaction? Is there a way to not apply the code until the very end? Because if I list it at the beginning it says "Your promotion code has been successfully applied. Select any hotel labeled "PROMO CODE ELIGIBLE" and you will see your savings on the next page." But it's not showing any hotels that are "promo code eligible" and simply gives me the same price as before...
Two things.

Make sure you're not searching on Orbitz for any more than 2 people. If you book more than 2 online, the Orbitz system charges extra. You'll want to just book for 1-2, then call to add anyone else after you book.

Also, I think you do have to go a screen further before you see the promo amount taken off. It'll show up just before the booking stage if I recall.

Edit: The Disney resorts may not list as eligible, but they are. Choose one and go further into the process.

I plugged in some random dates in Feb and POP came up as Promo Code Eligible.

So now I'm concerned that there may be some black out dates.

Just wanted to add my experience, so far.

I had booked the Early Winter deal thru Disney when it was released for Disney Visa. Then I booked with Orbitz the day the offer went to the General Public using a 15% off code. I saved $120 (and got $30 cash back on my Discover Card). I tried again when the 20% off code came out but my room type (POR - garden view) was gone and everything left was pricier even with the discount.

I waited a few days and added my children using the Orbitz chat feature online. It was so easy. Took maybe 10min but I just had the little chat screen in the corner of my computer while I worked.

Today I finally cancelled by original Disney reservation. Sat on hold 15 mins twice.

Orbitz has been so easy. So far.

Thank you msb578 - I really appreciate the help. I'm specifically looking for 2/18-2/22 (Princess 1/2 Marathon weekend), just for myself and a friend. Now I'm also wondering if those are blacked out dates - I didn't think of that before.

I'm guessing the time frame I'm looking for is a blacked-out time. I went all the way to the end where you put your credit card info in and when I put in the promo code it said "We're sorry the promo code you entered is not valid for this hotel. Please see the promo code rules below." :( Oh well, good to know I guess.

For what it's worth I also checked the prior Wed-Sat and the following Wed-Sat and got the same thing...I know this is a higher-priced time (Presidents Day holiday), but could all of these dates be blacked-out? Just seems odd. :confused3

Hmm, this doesn't sound right.

Are you logged in with an Orbitz username and password?

I just checked this date range for Pop Century, and it came up eligible and the discount was applied in the second page. Perhaps you're using a code that's not valid for the Disney resorts?

Not all Orbitz codes will work for every resort; usually the 15% ones will work and larger discounts won't. The OUTTAHERE code is an anomaly; it's 20% but applies to the Disney resorts.

Yeah, it just worked for me too on those dates. With OUTTAHERE. Maybe try their customer service?

I was not logged in with a username and password....I guess I missed that part somewhere and didn't realize - thank you! :)

I didn't realize either that all the codes were not equal - I will try the OUTAHERE one - thank you so much for your help! :flower3:

I just finished my Orbitz details yesterday....:thumbsup2 seems like a simple, streamlined Disney deal to me! (kind of reminds of couponing, you can either pay disney price, or do a little legwork and get it cheaper if you want to) Anyway, booked Disney at the sale price, then Orbitz at 15% off, then rebooked Orbitz at 20% off....:cool1: THEN when I had my final rates booked, I canceled my Disney res that was already linked thru MDE-(I waited to avoid all the long hold times last week) THEN I linked my Orbitz res to our MDE....Seamless!:thumbsup2 We already had some tickets and dining linked, nothing was altered.:cool1: So we saved bunch of cash(more snacks!) and got the exact same deal as before.
...also.... Orbitz has a very easy/fast cancel feature, so that part was also easy, and the charge was refunded FAST.

Just to avoid confusion- two Ts- OUTTAHERE :)

It actually isn't supposed to work anymore (expired yesterday), but someone reported it still worked today.

I don't think it is really 24 hours. I think my bank took about a week to process the refund. It was easy on the Orbitz end.

Just a side note because I'm in banking... If it took a week then it was orbitz that took a week to do it. The bank always posts electronic deposits right away. Just saying.

I'm really interested in going through Orbitz for my next trip in a year; obviously nothing is available yet. But that means I can't do the dining plan, correct?

It's true, you can't purchase the dining plan. Take some time to think about what you'll spend on food, out of pocket. If the dining plan makes the most sense for you, be on the lookout for Free Dining or Stay Play Dine. You can also use a Disney room discount on the room component of a package (with a dining plan).

But Orbitz can save you up to 44% off of a deluxe room. That's hard to beat.

I don't think the Orbitz code works anymore. I just tried it in the Promo Code area and it says it expired... :(

Try REVIEW15. Might work, might not. It's for 15% off.

That worked. But it ends up only being about $50 less than rack rate through Disney's own site, so not sure it's really worth the hassle or extra work at that point, hey?

Really? Which dates, and how many people? It doesn't quite sound right.

Well, I was putting in for fairly soon, 12/5-12/12 and chose POR, then priced it on Disney site apples for apples. Orbitz was $3041 with room discounted and their 4 day PH but give you 6 days. So put 6 days with PH on Disney site, came to $3095...
