Orbitz question

I was checking on Orbitz to see what kind of availability they have at POR. I noticed that rates for the same Garden View room was $149/night for 2 adults, but $194 for 2 adults and 3 kids (it was $164 and $179 for 1 and 2 kids). I've priced out rooms on Orbitz before and it was always in line with Disney pricing but maybe they had a few categories of rooms available that was not on the WDW website. This time it is all over the place. Garden View is less than a Standard Room which is more than a Preferred and there are a few prices for each category of room.

Is this common and I just never noticed it before? I believe I've read on here that people will book at room book a room that they know holds five people but they can only book for 4 people online and then they have to call and add the 5th.

I guess my real question is do you think if I book a room on Orbitz for two adults at the $149 price will I be able to call and add the kids without paying the price differential that I am seeing in the online listings?

Yes. Orbitz's booking tool adds an extra surcharge for more than two people, even though Disney doesn't charge extra. So many people just book through Orbitz and then modify the number of guests with Disney.

Thanks. I just looked at other WDW resorts and some were showing a similar discrepancy while others were not. Doesn't Orbitz own the reservation like a TA does? If so, I can't change the number of guests with Disney, can I?

You have to make the reservation through Orbitz (preferably online so you can use a coupon code and Ebates!) and then call Orbitz with the reservation number and have them call Disney to add the kids. Request to be placed on hold while they do this. If the first Orbitz rep you speak to tells you that you have to re-book, or that there's a charge for the kids, be persistent, and if all else fails, ask for a manager. The kids should show up in MDE within minutes after they call WDW. Good luck!

ETA: Exactly--Orbitz owns the reservation and you can't call WDW to add the kids.

Thank you!!

I must be doing something wrong because I can't get any Disney World resorts to show up on Orbitz. I only get the big 2 - Four Seasons and the Waldorf.

Something is wrong on Disney's end so neither Disney nor the aggregators are showing availability right now. :-(
