Hey y'all, I booked a Disney room via Orbitz last night (ASMO). I noticed today I forgot to add the children to the reservation. Orbitz wants to charge an additional $40 per night because "Disney charges for additional guests" which is BS. I chatted with a Disney representative and she says there is no way to alter the reservation. Is there anything I can do or say to get the children added? I really don't want to cancel and book with Disney since Orbtiz is $137 cheaper. Any advice would be great, Thanks!

So once you make it with Orbitz they're the TA so changes usually have to be made by them. That said, it's been a long standing issue with them about the children where it started as a glitch but now it seems almost intentional (like trying to see who'd notice). Mousesaver's has a good writeup on who to contact and what to say to try to get it resolved. Could try that first.

Good luck! Please post an update when you have one. Thanks.

Not all of them have a $25 cancellation fee. I am booked at Coronado and there's no fee for cancelling if I do it before July 2nd, my stay is July 7th to 10th.

All Star Movies, it says free cancellation.

Ok, so I know the trick to get this to work without being charged for the kids! It took me awhile to figure it out.

So, my daughter and 4 year old grandson are going on the trip. I put them in and the price was ridiculous. It kept saying extra guest fee or something. I knew that was wrong.

When I didn't put them on there the price was correct. So, I decided to see what it would be if I dropped the age of my daughter down to 4 ( she is 17) and my put my grandsons age as 4-he is 4 :) Surprise! No extra fee!

So I played with it and figured out they are charging for kids over 9!!

I went ahead and booked the room with 2 kids-age 4. I figured I would just cancel if it didn't work out in my MDE, since it is free to cancel.

When I got my confirmation#, I went in and added the stay and it asked to pick my travel party, when it came time to pick the children I added my 17 year old as one of the kids and had no issue, it worked fine!

YOU ARE A ROCK STAR! I called Orbitz and asked for someone in the US (didn't want to explain myself a million times). I told the representative I needed him to call Disney Wholesale and add my niece and nephew to the reservation. No problems what so ever, thank you!!

GENIUS!

And if you cancel with Orbitz they will charge you $25 to cancel

I was able to email Disney and show them screen shots where Orbitz was claiming Disney was charging the cancellation fee. It was an outright lie, obviously. Disney kindly sent me a gift card for the trouble. Mostly I was hoping they'd address it with Orbitz but apparently they didn't b/c it was over a year ago.

In the past, I used the live chat to add kids to the reservation. I just tell them flat out that Disney doesn't charge extra for children and if they don't believe me I'll gladly hold while they verify with Disney. Of course this must be done during hours that Disney agents are available.

I like the "4 yr old" idea better.:thumbsup2

I just made a reservation including my 3 and 6 year old kids and it tried to charge me a fee. I had to change their ages to 2 to get the fee to go away.

Orbitz is a double edge sword. You can get some great deals with them when combining their discounts and Disney. You just have to jump through some hoops at times to get them.
