Orbitz Discount + PIN Code "Stacking"?

I've read that you can "stack" discounts through Orbitz & using a PIN code. Can someone explain to me how that works?

I got a PIN that I'm thinking about using in April 2015. If I book a discounted room-only deal through Orbitz, can I also apply the PIN code to that reservation? If so, how would I do that?

Thanks in advance!!

you have to book directly with Disney to use a PIN

As the pp said, you have to book through Disney in order to use a PIN code as you can't apply a PIN code through a third party agency like Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. Sometimes those agencies run their own discounts that can be used in addition to a Disney discount when booking through their site, but you cannot book with one of those agencies and apply a PIN code you received from Disney.

Thank you! That's what I thought, but it confused me when I read about stacking discounts.

Sometimes stacking the Disney discount + third-party promo code can come out better than a PIN. It's worth comparing!

So when you say Disney discount, you mean something like their S/P/D offer? How do you apply both discounts?

Room-only, because that's all the resellers sell.

If you look at Orbitz's rates, those typically include Disney's room-only discount. So, that might be 30% off a Deluxe. Then, if there's a promo code, you could 15 or 20% off of that already-discounted rate.

I forgot to say- Orbitz is weird with kids. Search for 1-2 adults and book that way. Then call and add kids later. Otherwise you get overcharged.

Got it! Now, that makes sense to me. So, it may work out to my advantage to wait to book with the PIN (can't book now, must pay off Jan Trip first) until Disney releases discounts for April (if Disney offers R/O discounts for April), stack that with an additional Orbitz discount, and compare that price to the PIN price. I think I understand now. Thank you so much!!

That was almost painful! Haha. Sorry, I'm a little slow sometimes. Thanks again!

Good to know! I'm going solo in April, so I won't need to worry about that, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future. Thanks!

You can always book with your PIN when you're ready and then check the Orbitz rates once Disney releases discounts for that time frame. Doing that would get you the PIN discount in case Orbitz didn't have any availability for what you want or doesn't offer an additional discount for your travel dates. If you book with Disney now, you would be assured the discount, but could cancel should you get a better deal through Orbitz.

Ok, thanks! I still need to pay off my January trip first, but once that's done, I'll be ready to book for April. :thumbsup2

Someone on another thread pointed out that Orbitz etc aren't selling any Disney rooms right now. Not sure what this means yet!

Orbitz availability of Disney resorts is very strange...sometimes they have them and sometimes nothing (for same dates)...I booked and paid for a January stay with Orbitz awhile ago at AofA in a Little Mermaid room with their discount, and was now thinking of upgrading resorts (and staking Orbitz discount with Disneys winter room only rate sale), now nada. guess I will keep checking!

Question: if I book now with orbitz using a discount code and then Disney releases discounts, how would that work? Cancel original orbitz reservation in order to stack the discounts? Or would they apply the Disney discount to existing orbitz reservation?

Yeah, I think you may have to cancel and rebook. You could always call and ask though. Has anyone else had success in modifying a reservation this way?

They are selling Disney rooms, but the current 20% discount code does not apply to the Disney resorts. If you keep an eye out, they may release an Orbitz discount code that does apply to Disney resorts.

You have to cancel and rebook. Even to apply a different Orbitz discount you have to cancel and rebook. If you're more than 5 days out you do get fully refunded, but then you have to pay for the new reservation in full as soon as you make it.

So if you book through orbitz and cancel within those five days prior to arrival then you loose everything? With Disney you just have to pay first night stay if you cancel less than five days before.

No, it's the same policy. You would pay one night as a penalty with Orbitz too, but I believe it's at rack rate.

How do you get an Orbitz code? I am assuming you can't use a dining plan when you book through Orbitz, correct?
