Has anyone here ever used Orbitz to book their airfare? Is the confirmation they email you all you need to get your boarding passes at the airport.? Can you go to the United counter to get your boarding passes with this confirmation or do you need to use the kisok? Do I need my debit card to use the kisok, or just need my confirmation #?

So many questions, my DD thinks I am over stressing on this. This is the first time I book air tickets on line. I always previsouly used a travel agent.

Your help is greatly appreciated to alleive my concerns.

Yes. Actually, you have an electronic ticket and all you really need is a picture ID - everything is in the computer.

You can choose to do either. Check United's web site to see if there are any special instructions for using the kiosk. Some airlines will tell you to use the counter if you are checking luggage.

I've not personally used United's kiosk system, but all of the other airlines' self-check in machines require some type of credit card or frequent flyer card with a magnetic strip to access your reservation. The kiosk reads the mag strip for your identification information.

Don't worry too much. There will be United agents near the kiosks to help anyone who needs it. Another option is to use curbside check in. The agent there will take care of everything for you. At curbside, though, a tip will be expected and hopefully appreciated.

Best wishes -

I booked through Orbitz for my parents using their CC and for my boss's SIL using her debit card. My parents I booked with United and I'm not sure what airline my boss's SIL was with. These were e-tickets and although they brought their printed confirmation pages with them, was not really necessary, but it sure doesn't hurt just in case.

They both said the procedures were easy, no problems.

The one thing is that the person whose name is on the credit card has to be the one at the airport when checking in.

Poochie,

Check United's website before booking. Usually the airlines' own website is a little cheaper. Sites like Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity add $5.00 per ticket.
