The list of last years early opening rides has prompted me to ask - what is Orbitron?

DLP website says: Pilot your ownspace ship through a fantastic animated galaxy, inspired by the sketches of the genius, Leonardo da Vinci.

Children under 1 can't ride, this is the only restriction, which suggests it can't be a rollercoaster.

I've not heard of this ride, can anyone tel me what it is please?

It is a similar type of attraction to Dumbo and Magic Carpet ride.
DS enjoyed it as it gives the impression of moving faster, although the lines move slowly which means that it often has large queues :)

Ahhhhhhhhh, I think I remember it now!

Where does the 'Animated galaxy' come in to it? Or is it sinply like Dumbo but riding in spaceships rather than elephants?

Not sure where the animated galaxy is as it's an outside ride. Yes it's exactly what you say Dumbo with spaceships not elephants. It's a much smaller queue than Dumbo though!

The spaceships have a lever so that you can raise or lower them.

Looking at this photo, I'm assuming the Animated Galaxy part refers to the "planets" above the ride. I seem to remember they move round as well - though I could be quite wrong!!

They do move in the opposite direction of the spaceships which gives the appearance of making the spaceships go faster :)

It was ok but it is not worth it with a queue, we waited 30 min for a 2 min ride.
I liked Dumbo because at GMF there was no queue, Orbitron did seem faster and when you're at the top you are on more of an angle than with Dumbo IMO.

ooooh, no i much prefer dumbo. probably mainly because its from a film, rather than something im not too familiar with. bit more fun i think than orbitron
em xxx

I agree - this is a ride that can 'eat adults' ie it tilts you more sideways and is faster than Dumbo, so even while tame looking can create some mind games for adults! (even though kids love the ride)
