Does anyone know if the Orange Stinger will be eliminated from DCA in the future? We were there last month and we really liked the ride. I also thought the "big orange" was pretty at night:)

This is from Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker sticky at Micechat.
Removal of Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion, addition of Beer Garden.
Mullholland Madness re-theme, Orange Stinger retheme to Silly Symphony Swings
Project Status: To begin 2009
Open Date: By 2010 opening of World of Color

There are no plans, thus far, to remove the big orange.

In case you were wondering what else is in store for California Adventure, here's the info: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker courtesy of Micechat.

A Beer Garden is being added to DCA? Is this near the current beer truck or is this in the corner by Mulholland Madness and Corn Dog Castle?

The Beer Garden is going to be taking place of that corner where they are removing Pizza Oom Mow Mow & Burger Invasion. I think they are taking out that USS Rustworthy splash boat thing as well. Good riddance!

I am so glad they are keeping the Stinger. I'm a sucker for the nostalgia of that ride.

Beer Garden... Oh I hope not!!!! One thing I like about DL is that they don't serve alcohol. I'd hate to see the park inundated with drunken fools!

It's not Disneyland, it's California Adventure. They already serve alcohol in the restaurants (wine country trattoria)

This is for DCA, not DL. They have sold alcohol at DCA since they opened the park. And you normally won't see it inundated with drunken fools, except for maybe during Food & Wine weekends. :drinking1 ;)

Wine is fine in a restaurant environment where you charge $10+ a glass. It would be tough to get s%$& faced. But you set up a beer garden and let loose cheap beer and you combine that with hot summer days and 45 minute ride lines and things are gonna get ugly!

I never cared for everything in that corner, the food was not good and the boat was just in the wrong place, it never felt right in that spot.

The stinger is great, I love the bee sounds and the giant orange peel is a great tribute to the county that DLR occupies. My only issue with this attraction is that it simply does not last long enough, it is over so quick!

DangerMouse is right. They have always sold alcohol and I have never seen any noticeably drunk people, plus, I don't think Disney would let drunk people walk around and disturb the other guests or another guest would talk to a CM about the said drunk person.

Cheep beer in DLR??? I don't think so. . . :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nevertheless you have to look at the purpose of the establishment.

What's the purpose of a restaurant? To serve food and if the patron wants to compliment his/her meal with wine or beer fine....

What's the purpose of a "Beer Garden"? To give your patrons a venue to get sh!t faced!

I still don't think a "Beer Garden" has a place in a family oriented theme park!

They've always sold margaritas at the mexican food place. They put them in neon green cups so they're easy to spot if you try to take them out of the park. I've heard stories of security stopping people with the neon cups and saying they can't take them out of DCL.

I think most people who come to DLR aren't looking to get drunk. They're with their families. Maybe they'll have a beer or two with lunch and then they'll move on. I'm also sure the beer won't be cheap and therefore will discourage people from buying too many.

I also like the Orange Stinger. But I agree, the ride is too short. I'm glad they're tweaking the Paradise Pier area. It's my least favorite part of DCL. It just doesn't say "Disney" to me. We usually go over there, hit Screamin', the Stinger and the Puke Wheel (er, I mean the Sun Wheel - non-sliding cars for some of us). The kids drag me on Mulholland Madness because it makes me say weird things (I swear that ride is out to kill me). Then we leave. Nothing else over there appeals to us.

Hmmmm, sorry but I disagree, which is suprising since I'm really not a drinker myself. DCA already has the Cove Bar at Ariel's where they sell beer and other alcoholic beverages, the Margarita stand (only sells margaritas), and a walk up wine bar where I have seen people get glasses of wine to bring down and watch the DEP from the street level. How is this any different? They have a Beer Garden in Epcot at WDW as well.

If anyone wanted to get drunk, they could do it easily at any of these other existing venues. Has anyone else noticed rowdy drunk people in DCA?

Disregard everything I posted... I though they were talking about opening "a" beer garden. When in fact, after further research I realized, they were talking about opening a restaurant "called" Beer Garden! I feel Dumb! A restaurant serving beer would be ok.... It's just a stupid name a most!!! ;)

I'm glad the Orange Stinger is staying. The link was very informative. I will have to read it later when I have more time. Thanks for supplying it.

One Blue Moon at DCA costs as much as a 6 pack of Blue Moon at the grocery store. Cheap beer it's NOT!

You sure about that?

I could totally be wrong, but I never read it like that.

Beer gardens at festivals we go to aren't for getting cheap beer and drunk, but they are an enclosed place to satisfy liquor laws and licenses so that minors aren't sharing the same space.

Nevertheless, one beer in DCA = a 6 pack from the grocery store. Smallish margarita is 7 bucks or so. My frozen drinkydrink at Cove Bar was almost 10 bucks. Drunk is NOT what most people are going to get, at those prices!!!!

Oh, and I will very likely NEVER go on the Orange Stinger, but I don't want it to be re-themed b/c it's so darned pretty! Even though thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach. :upsidedow

With all of the changes, they may be looking for an evening venue for their upcoming night show, which I hope is similar to Illuminations at Epcot....

There are various places to purchase alcoholic beverages at Epcot, of which I have imbibed I must say, and enjoy the music and light show.

I will only purchase 1 such beverage, however, at the prices.

:lmao:

Anyhoo, that is what I hope for. We are only sorry it won't be completed before my daughter's wedding next year!

The name "Beer Garden" reminds me of a Simpsons episode when Bart, Lisa, and Selma went to Duff Gardens. lol.
Anyways, I am kinda sad that the Orange Stinger is being rethemed to the Symphony Swings. I mean I like The Band Concert cartoon and all, but the park is called California Adventure for a reason and especially being in Orange County, oranges grow there! I guess it's gonna be the same for the Sun Wheel too. I love Mickey, but I'll miss the happy sun.
