OLCC's North Village section was built about 10 years ago, give or take a year or two. I think that most of the negative reviews on OLCC concern the large, original resort that's now known as the West Village. The North Village isn't the newest section at OLCC but I believe it's been kept up nicely over the last decade. It has a nice pool area, snack bar (I believe), tennis courts, basketball courts. And guests at the North Village can use the facilities at the West Village, East Village or River Island sections.
It's about a ten minute drive (about 5 miles) from the North Village to the Animal Kingdom parking lot, maybe 8 miles to the Hollywood Studios parking lot, about 10 miles to Epcot's parking lot and 11 or 12 miles to the TTC parking lot for the Magic Kingdom. I think that getting to the parks is pretty easy: Go out of the resort to SR 192, turn left onto 192 and go about a mile and a half to a traffic light and turn left onto Sherberth Road, continue on Sherberth to its end (just about a mile), then turn right onto Osceola Parkway. The Disney signage will direct you to the parks from there. Watch for the left switchback turn for Animal Kingdom just ahead (less than a mile). If you're going to one of the other parks, from Sherberth take Osceola Parkway for about two miles then turn left onto the World Drive entrance ramp Hollywood Studios is first, on the right, then Epcot (also on the right). Just continue north on World Drive to the toll-booth-like set up to pay for MK parking, then just follow everybody else to the parking lot.
Signs within Disney are very good, even if you miss an exit or entrance you'll see new signs directing you to various Disney parks and other locations.
