Orange Lake Resort

Has anyone stayed at Orange Lake Resort and Country Club? We have ten people (four of which are kids) going in Oct and are trying to find a 3 bedroom villa for all of us.

Stayed there about 6 years ago. It is HUGE and very nice. We had 2 bedrooms and could have slept eight easily. There were three tv's a complete kitchen, two full baths (suspect yours would have 3). Our patio was just off a fairway on one of their golf courses. There were activities and of course, a place to buy tix to most everything to do in Orlando. I would highly recommend this place for anyone staying off property.

My parents have owned at Orange Lake Since Late 70's i think 78-79 they bought there, as a child we went every year and I have been back twice, I love it there, They have so many amenties onsite that you dont need to leave!
LARGE villas and alot of different area pools and different things that you and your family can do. Mini golf, Golf, beach, they just built a "water park" area, movies, its so much fun!

We are going in Two Weeks!!!!

One suggestion, with 10 people going...get a 4 or even possibly a 5 bedroom place if there's one available. They tend to not cost very much additional, and it's really nice when everyone has their own bed / bedroom, and doesn't have to sleep on pullout couches. It's also nice to have the extra bathrooms.

A 3 bedroom place is typically only licensed for 8 guests per Osceola County hotel code anyhow. (2 per bedroom and 2 extra allowed, including ALL guests in the home).

We had a 3 bedroom lockoff - the 3rd bedroom had a pull out love seat - perfect for 2 kids...

One room - king bed
two room - 2 queen beds
the livingroom - pull out couch also...

each one had a bathroom - so 3 bathrooms in all

kitchen - washer, dryer and we stayed in 86651 5th floor east- even saw fireworks from two place from our balcony...

the river island got real crowded - get ther by 7:30 am to get chairs
the west pool was great and not too crowded also by 8:00 am to get seats

Thanks for the help. We are also considering a villa home in Windsor Hills are they both about the same distance from WDW? Any disadvantages to either place? We are so excited as this will be the first time any of these 4 grandchildren have been to WDW and we want them to love it as much as we do

Windsor Hills is a little closer. If you look at this map http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa/map.htm (not exactly to scale), Windosr Hills is shown straight south where the map says "Animal Kingdom". If you look where it says "Animal kingdom Lodge, you will see the words "Orange Lake Country Club". You can see the big lake, and the units are to the left.

My uncle owns two weeks at OLCC, and loves it. Has for decades.

Windsor Hills is closer, the home sizes are probably a better fit for your family. If you are focusing only on the parks, WH will be okay. If you want to hang out at your resort a lot, OLCC has more going on.

resorts ive seen/stayed at weve looked at MANY timeshare resorts and Orange Lake Is the bEst that i have seen they take care of you and there are ALOT of items that you can do there for the family!!!!

A three-bedroom villa at OLCC should work out fine for you. The resort is huge, which some people find to be a negative, because you do need to drive to different areas or use their own internal transportation. We have stayed several time and the villas have always been spotless, in fantastic condition, very roomy, and the resort, since it is so spread out, is very PEACEFUL after a busy day at a theme park!

I don't know anything about county code in regards to how many people can stay in a 3-bedroom, but I can't imagine that OLCC is doing anything against code. Maybe it's because the 3 bedroom is really a 2 bedroom with a 1 bedroom lock off unit? Our 3-bedroom had a king size bed, bedroom 2 had 2 queens (may be a good choice for the 4 kids in your party), another really nice bedroom with a queen and love seat that pulled out into a couch (this is what they call the lock off unit) and a pull out couch in the living room.

OLCC is really really really nice at the end of the day...and it has so much to do there that if you need a down day just hanging at the resort, you will be very happy.

We are staying there next week. I've read a bunch of reviews about not staying in the West section. old, moldy and so on. not sure how accurate these reviews are. anyone shed any light?

Most of the 3-bedroom units are not lockoffs but all will hold 12 people. The 3-bedroom units in the West Village are located in the Tennis Villas. These are the multi-level units next to the clubhouse where you check in. There are a variety of activities in this area including the Olympic-size swimming pool, the beach, the activities within the clubhouse, the tennis courts, etc. The units will be located at the end of each floor. It is the same type of building and layout as in the East Village.

The North Village will have the 3-bedroom unit located on the 2-story building but will be on the ends of the ground level units. In all likelihood, you will be along a golf course. The 3-bedroom units at the Tennis Villas, the North Village, and the East Village all have the same layout and is the example shown on OLCC's website.

The 3-bedroom units located at River Island are the only lockouts at OLCC. They are also located at the ends of the building on each floor. The layout is different that the layout for the Tennis Villas/North Village/East Village units and unfortunately, there are no pictures on OLCC's website.

Every resort has its complaints and yes, there have been complaints about OLCC West Village Golf Villas. I happen to like them as they are single story units where you can drive your car right up to (the North Village units you can as well). These units are undergoing some renovation but I have never had a bad stay in any of the units that I have stayed. One of the complaints was that they didn't have a jacuzzi-style bathtub but that is one of the changes where the renovated units will have regular-size whirlpool bathtubs instead of a regular bathtub. Everyone has different expectations and sometimes these are not met.

We will be staying in a 3 bedroom condo at OL for the first time from Dec 15-22 in the West Village. I had read some reviews that the West Village is the oldest and had some bad reviews. I am glad to hear of the renovations. Does anyone know if they are updating all of the West Village? Will they all be done by December?

Although the West Village is the oldest section, the term West Village can be a little confusing at the moment since OLCC has been divided into sections. Sometimes it means all the sections except the River Island section and as such, the unit could therefore be in the West Village, North Village, or the East Village. There is the standard maintenance for all units every 6 years where they take out the soft items (carpet, curtains, etc) and repaint the units and the major replacements every 18 years (stove, refrigerator, etc), so there is ongoing updating. But the renovation that I was referring to is specific to the original West Village Golf Villas. There are 800 of them and the renovation started last September. It will take approximately 4 years to complete all 800 units.

If your 3-bedroom unit is actually in the original West Village, it would be in the Tennis Villas which are near the clubhouse. There is an Olympic-size pool, a beach, and a host of activities around the clubhouse. It is highly possible that the unit could be in the East or North Village. This confusion will probably not occur after 2008 when the reservation will be more clear on which section (prior to the split up, the units were all listed as OLCC West Village and OLCC River Island, hence the confusion about which area the 3-bedroom could actually be in). The 3-bedroom units are exactly as shown on OLCC's website. The only different layout is for the River Island units and unfortunately, that layout is not shown on the webpage.

we stay there every year. my parents own two weeks. i absolutely love it there! it's beautiful and great for kids! can't wait to go back in october!!

We stayed there last year and LOVED it. It is a HUGE campus and we got lost a lot at first but the grounds are gorgeous, amenities are abundant and accommodations were top notch. We had raccoon visitors outside that the kids thought were the best thing ever. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Drinks by the pool were yummy too
