Orange Lake Resort - Your opinion please?

We love Orange Lake. My sister has a timeshare there and my family has rented from an owner our last two trips to Disney. You take a right out of the resort and then the next right is the tollroad straight to Disney. It is so easy to get to. We stay in a three bedroom which is great with two families b/c they are two masters and the third room is two queen's - lots of living room space. I would stay in the newer section. The amenities are great, too. We got the three bedroom for a week for $850! I don't think you will be disappointed. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great trip!

been owners there for more than 18 years...we go for two weeks in the spring and two in the fall...we're getting ready to leave as I type this. I don't think you'll be disappointed...
We also have almost all our family members as owners now - after they visited us - they decided to buy there too.
I wouldn't trade our vacations for anything. I love staying off site, we've more room..and with the short cut to Disney...it's a no brainer for us. I've had an AP at Disney for years and it sure has paid off.
Regards from Texas...Barb me too...any questions...just ask!

My family loves Orange Lake. We have rented two bedroom units many time both in the West Village and River Island section. We are going again the week after Christmas, got an 2bd/2ba for 900.00! Easy to get to the parks. Whenever I say we are going to FL the kids ask to stay at Orange Lake.

My parents have owned at Orange Lake since 1984 and we like going there. Just like a previous poster, we've had other family members buy into Orange Lake after staying there with us. That made it a great location to spend Christmas one year since we were close together but could escape from each other if we wanted to.

The units are also spacious. Living room, dining area, bedrooms, kitchens, balconies or patios. I'm so spoiled by the amount of space you get in a 2 & 3 bedroom unit that it's hard for me to stay in a hotel room :) The full kitchen it totally outfitted so it makes it very convenient to fix a home cooked meal if you get tired of take out.

I think that there is also a water park they opened recently. I haven't had the chance to experience it but it looks like fun.

Other conveniences are a Publix at one of the exits and a Walgreens located across from the main entrance. Plus, it's not to far of a drive to the World.

I would definitely give it a try!:thumbsup2

I have never stayed personally. My cousins have owned 2 weeks each for about 22 years I believe.

I do know this it is in a great area. Minutes from the parks and many restaurants, grocer and mini golf.

We stayed there a few years ago and were disappointed. We found the resort way too big, you had to drive in the car to get to the pools. We found the resort and our unit very dirty. And I did not like the location on 192, way out of the way. We won't be going back to Orange Lake.

Please share your shortcut to Disney with me. My dad showed me once but I can't remember it! The last time I tried to take the short cut, I got lost. Thanks!

turn left on us 192 - then I think it is the second traffic light pass 417 (might be first) - Black Lake road - until it dead ends - then turn left on to Sherbert road - when it ends (signs says Disney cm only) - turn right - a little ways a sign saying 'parks turn left' (ak is a immediately left turn - after you have turn right)

now if you want to pay a $1 (disney exit there is no charge) - go the way that Op described 429.
