Hi all,

I am staying at OLCC this December and I have a few questions. First, can you please tell me about the pools- the ones appropriate for the kids (ages 9, 5 and 4).

Also, can you please tell me the best way to get from OLCC to the parks at WDW. From reading various posts, am I correct in that it will take me about 20 minutes to get to the MK during the peak times of the day and less time to the other parks since they are closer.

Thanks all! :grouphug:

All the pools are great for kids. Hopefully, by the time you go the new River Island will be open; this gives a new place for kids fun and also might lessen the crowds at the other pools.

We like to pool hop, so we spent time at all the pool areas. Both the East and West Village have quieter pool areas, which was nice for our 2 children (9&11) and my parents. These areas also have hot tubs which the splash lagoon area doesn't. Splash lagoon is really a haven for children, with activities throughout the day, we did it only one day.

We take the 'shortcut' to WDW from OLCC (BUT SHHH! IT'S OUR SECRET!)
192 east to left on Black Lake Road (this runs parallel to 192), then turn left on Sherbeth, this takes you to the far end of Osceola Parkway by Animal Kingdom. This takes you onto WDW property in less than 10 minutes. Otherwise you can follow 192 east directly to the Maingate Entrance, just a few minutes longer, and much better signage if you need it. Our shortcut doesn't come with any signs.

Thanks for the "secret"!

Can you give me an idea of how long it will take to go door-to-door to each of the resorts from OLCC. I know, there are many variables, but I am looking for a general idea. From door-to-door, I mean it literally.....from my condo at OLCC to the entrance gate, including parking, trams, monorails, whatever.

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Given the age of the children, the North Village Splash Lagoon should be perfect. I love the West Village Olympic swimming pool but I think that this is too much for the age of your children but it is great for adults. The new River Island recreation area may be okay also but its key features are two pools with a lazy river running between them. The Splash Lagoon also has a kiddie pool and the main pool is 3 1/2 to 4 feet deep (the West Village Olympic size pool is 6 feet deep - there is a smaller pool that varies in depth up to around 4 1/2 or 5 feet deep - I know, more than you need to know ;)).

Using the Black Lake Road does save a lot of time. You are dealing with two stoplights, one when you exit OLCC using the East Orange Lake exit and the next stoplight on 192 is Black Lake Road, rather than the multitude of stoplights if you stay on 192 until you come to the Disney exit. If the stoplights were not a factor, figure roughly 5 minutes or so the Animal Kingdom.

However--unless they have done some trimming, that LEFT onto Sherberth requires caution. IYour turning at a bend and cars come flying around it. Sure wish they would put a light there--even if it is just feet from 192 :)
