Just ran across this resort and it looks really nice. Does anyone know if the new "waterpark" is open yet? Also how do you go about getting a newer unit and which one's are the new one's. The reviews are pretty good but mostly in the newer units. I would like to be right near a pool and not have to get in the car to drive to it. (I understand this place is pretty large and you need to drive within the resort) I don't mind for dinner but I'd prefer to walk to a pool. Also how do you get good pricing for this place. I'm on a budget of around $100/nt. Thanks!!!

i own at orange lake, my friend tried to book there and found it quite expensive, i don't know how the pricing is, but you will like te resort.

We also own at Orange Lake. The water park hadn't open as of last October while we were there, but if memory serves me correctly, it is meant to be done later this year. It's a beautiful resort. I'm not sure if you have any way of guaranteeing that you would be given a room next to one of the pools? I think I have seen weeks sold on skyauction.com at reasonable rates. I have certainly seen Summer Bay and Silver Lake on Sky Auction, and these are beautiful resorts as well.

I really like Orange Lake but last time I drove by there was a load of construction going on from what I thought were roads, it all seemed a bit close.

Like others on the board, I own there. The new "waterpark" is not scheduled to open until 2006. It had originally been scheduled for this 3rd quarter but the delays were caused by the hurricanes last year. You might be able to get a studio for around $100 a night but the 2-bedroom units are more expensive. You can try some of the auction places (www.bidshare.com) as they have good rates. I don't frequent these sites but spicycat may be able to help with these sites.

A lot of the construction is due to the Western Beltway going through the area. I think it is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

It is west of Disney on 192. Not a bad drive.

We stayed there last summer and were in one of the older parts. I was sort of disappointed in it. Others rave about it, so it must make a big difference where you get assigned.

Orange Lake is really conveniently located on 192 and is really easy, no traffic, to get to WDW.
We have stayed there several times through time share trades, and once through rentals, but it was definitely more than $100/night for a 2 bedroom villa in the splash lagoon area, in the April timeframe. We were there in April 2002 and I remember around $160 for these villas. Have never stayed in a "tower", only villas.
We have always had perfectly clean, beautiful accomodations. There is so much to do at Orange Lake; it's awesome. yes, we did need to either take a tram or or our rental car to get around, but this is a beautiful resort that i can't wait to visit again.
We have always requested a "villa" and not an apartment building type accomodation, and have always been accomodated. But we never have requested to be close to anything as the on-site transporation is pretty good and we don't mind using the rental car either to get anywhere.

We own at Orange Lake. Stay there several times a year. It's located on Hwy 192 about 3-4 miles west of the entrance to WDW. River Island is well under construction, and is on schedule for opening in early 2006.
