We booked a 2 bedroom unit for next April thru RCI - has anyone stayed here before? Any tips? Can we request a specific phase or building and if so, any suggestions. We will be a group of 7, 4 adults - 3 kids (4/5/9)
Thanks in advance

We haven't been there yet, but are going this Oct/Nov. I understand that you can ask for a particular area but they won't guarantee it. If you call 2 weeks before your arrival date and they won't put your request on file, call back in a day or two and chances are the next person you get will.

If you do a search for Orange Lake Country Club or OLCC you'll get plenty of good info. Most people love it.

Most people love it, not too far from WDW. I have heard it is very large and spread out, so you need a car to get around in the resort. I would check tripadvisor.com and see if there are sections you should avoid because they are older and not as well kept.

We stayed there last year for ten days and were in an older section, looked like two story duplexes, right on one of the golf courses. The living room was very small and the furniture was narrow, hard and uncomfortable. It was crowded for 5 people (4 adults and a 10 yr old). The bedroom and bathrooms were large. The washing machine had definitely seen better days. We didn't spend very much time there. The resort is enormous and you will need a vehicle of some sort to get around. IMO they don't have enough pools to accommodate all of the guests and they get extremely crowded. We were also there in a non-peak time so it's probably worse in peak times. I see a lot of people really love this resort but I was not at all impressed. I would give it 5 out of 10 stars. Our first trip to Orlando we stayed at the Vistana and fell in love with it, we just felt like OLCC pailed in comparison. Maybe the newer sections are nicer than where we were. We had a time share week from RCI and booked an extra 3 days at the end. We were told we had to move at the end of the week to a different type of unit because they did not rent those duplex things by the day. So we had to pack up all of our stuff and check out by 10am and check back in after 4pm, as if we were new arrivals, only to find that they had moved us about 3 duplexes down the street to the same exact type of unit, was really a waste of time as well as an inconvenience, so I did not find them to be very accommodating. I would never choose to stay there again. We only ate there once at the pizza place in the Main building and it was edible but not something I would recommend.
On the plus side it was very close to the Disney gates and there are many places to dine in the area. We are staying in the same area this summer, but in a private villa in Emerald Island Resort.
