Hi everybody,

When the hubby and I visit next month, we will have a half day free before our flight home and are interested in visiting an orange grove near Orlando. We've read up a bit on Showcase of Citrus and like what we see, but were wondering if there are any addt'l options nearby. Has anyone had a good (or bad!) experience at a local grove?

Thanks in advance.

We go to Showcase of Citrus all the time, opposite direction from airport but worth the trip.

We haven't gone in a long time. Several years ago there were orchards for miles and miles around that area but some hard freezes hit and wiped out a large majority of them. :sad2:

Loved Showcase of Citrus :thumbsup2 . So much so, we plan to visit again this August....if nothing more than for the slushies. Sooooo good!

The monster truck tour is very fun, and good for virtually every age. They are often on Groupon, if you are seeking discounted tickets for the tour.

Go and pay a visit to The Showcase of Citrus as others have said.

It is Owned by Anderson family

You can pick your own Oranges ( in Season ) .They will drive you into the grove area that is being picked & you Pick & Fill the empty bag seize that you have bought at the store .

You should take the Swamp Buggy ( Large Wheeled Truck) trip into the Ranch. ..... & feed Oranges to Cows .

To Drive to Show Case Of Citrus

Go onto Hwy 192 West & Head towards Hwy 27

Join Hwy 27 NORTH ( Towards Clermont )

After about 11 miles & on Your Right Side you will see your destination .

It is Just After Tradds Landing Community & Well before

Lake Louisa State Park ( On Left )

Address is 5010 US Highway 27

Clermont FL 34714

Phone 352 394 4377

We have being going there for 10 years. to get our fix of Fresh Citrus.

Showcase of Citrus is awesome, ask to have he manager as your driver - he was amazing and said you can request him.

We purchased a groupon for our visit - they are often available.

Some pics of the Showcase of Citrus experience....hope they help! :)

The store, from the outside:

What's in season and when:

The infamous all-natural slushies (the one in the center is a "creamsicle" version, which is the orange slushie blended with vanilla soft serve):

You can fish from this dock, if you like:

But there's no swimming allowed....and its no surprise why:

The Monster Truck which takes you on the tour of the groves:

Some of the many groves you will pass by:

Bogging through the mud and water....that's why this buggy has some massively big tires:

You'll see some animals on the tour. Our guide, Chad, found the most massive Banana Spider you've ever seen:

There were also some water buffalo (a Dad, Mom and baby....this is the latter two):

And here is Daddio (we got to throw food to them):

There were also a pair of watusi (I have no idea if I spelled that right):

We also saw the resident zebra. The gators decided it was too hot to make an appearance but apparently they are frequent stars of the tour as well.

For three years I lived not 10 minutes from that place and never went in.

Is the Showcase of Citrus tour a 'rough ride'? DH has a lot of arthritis issues and sometimes jarring causes him a lot of pain. He may need to fish while the lovebugs and I go on the tour.

Thank you so much for all of the lovely replies! It's always good to get insights from several people. Thanks also for the great pics! I am now very excited to go!!

Its pretty bouncy.....the terrain is rough and uneven in many spots. We got stuck in the mud in one spot, which took a lot of jarring back and forth to get us out.

Its lots of fun for the kids but if your DH needs a smooth type ride, this tour is probably not for him.

Thanks for the reply, Gina. I think that fishing would be a good option for him. Have a wonderful day!
