Does anyone know if there is an on site car rental location that you do not have to take a van to? I know some airports have the cars outside. Anything like that at SNA?

Thanks for your help!!!

I have a reservation for Hertz at SNA and my understanding is that it is in terminal. Can anyone confirm?

Living about 5 minutes from SNA, I find that it is very user friendly and small compared with LAX. There are two terminals A and B. Car rental kiosks are located between the two on the baggage level (we only have 2 levels heh). Cars are in the lower level of the parking structure across from the terminal.

If you have preferred membership at a rental agency, you can usually go straight into the lower level of the parking structure and the car should be waiting at the designated company area. Just follow the signs and you're good to go.

Hope you have a great trip!

Yep, as the others have said most of the big rental agencies have car right there in the parking garage. I rented from Alamo earlier this month. They have me a 2 catagory upgrade when I picked up my car. I had a Chevy Monte Carlo, for 3 days, for $30.32 total including tax! That is WAY cheaper then round trip shuttle/ taxi for 3 people.

When we returned the car I left my friend and all our luggage at the check in/ drop off area, then returned the car, and met up with them. It worked great.

We rent a car at SNA every time we go. It is very convenient as the other posters have said. The on-site agencies are: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Enterprise, and Thrifty. Some websites will list other agencies, but they are off-site and require a shuttle, so stick with the ones I just listed. If you're in a hurry, I have always found the best deals with Alamo or Thrifty at this particular airport. But I would check them all if you have time. Alamo has some really good deals on their website right now.

I've reserved a full size for the Thanksgiving week holiday through Costco at SNA and the total is $167, including an additional driver. I was happy enough with the price. It is supposed to be in the terminal.

I got a compact from Hertz through Hotwire for $119, taxes and fees included for a week.

I know most everyone knows this, but make sure you reserve early, and then frequently check for better deals. I reserved an intermediate through Alamo about 4 months ago for $150/5 days. I check back every couple of weeks to see if there is a deal to be had out there. So far what I've found is the price on most everything has doubled since I made my reservation, so I'm glad I locked in when I did.

The great thing about car rental reservations is that you can book one and always cancel later if you find something better. :)

P.S. Car rental is a snap at SNA. Much easier and less crowded than at major airports.

Avoid Advantage like the plague! They are off-site of the airport where you have to take a shuttle driven by a madman. Their salesman bold face lied to us about not paying extra for fuel. They lure you with a cheap initial price then gouge you when you bring it back! Plus their office was filthy!!!!!!!! We were there 5/1-5/5. Hope this helps!

Just got back and had a great experience with Alamo. It is onsite fast and easy to pick up. Got a GREAT rate with costco.com. Have a great trip.
