options with DVC rental

I have rented points for my stay on 1feb.we are not going know as my dad has bowel cancer and is having major surgery next week. I don't expect a refund from my renter but do I have any other options, will Disney let us rebook? I don't care if my insurance pay out i don't want it to go to waste so would rather give it away. Any help appreciated
 
Any changes are between you and the member you rented from. Disney and DVC can not (and will not) do anything for you directly because it's a DVC reservation. Only the owner can call DVC to make changes to the reservation.
 
Thx I thought so. I emailed the owner tho I don't want him having any hassle so we shall see. I just don't want it going to waste I would rather the money went to a good cause or the rental to someone who could make extra special use of it
 
I just wanted to wish your Dad good luck with his surgery and any subsequent treatment he might need. I was diagnosed this past August with stage 4 colon cancer and had bowel surgery. I hope his goes well and that he has a speedy recovery. I'm sorry about your vacation, but am praying for your Dad.

Thank you so much, what an awful disease its hard to describe how you feel. how are you feeling after your surgery?

thx for your thoughts on our vacation but as long as dad gets through this ...as am sure you understand. I would rather auction the stay to help any charity or cause. Thank you so much for your prayers X
 
Hopefully they'll perform laparoscopic surgery, it's amazing what they can now do, plus the recovery is reduced by at least half, the patient is out like a day or two after surgery.
 
as previously said, the options are up to the owner.
since the trip is within 2 weeks, the points will go into a holding account, and further restrictions may apply.

the owner may allow you to rebook (use year is important here), allow you to rent your reservation out or they can personally try to re-rent it, they can offer it to give kids the world.
unless you have a contract that says otherwise (and even that would be iffy) they can use those points themselves.
ultimately, it is their choice what to do with the points once you cancel your reservation with them. hopefully, the two of you can work something out.
