Options for transport from DLR to San Diego

There is a lot to walk around and see by the Hyatt. If you don't want to venture up the coast (La Jolla, Del Mar, etc.) and just have your evenings free I wouldn't rent a car in San Diego when staying downtown. And, if you did want to venture out of downtown one night I would think a Lyft or Uber would be cheaper than the rental car rate plus the rate of parking at the hotel.

Like someone else said, you are right across the bay from Coronado Island. You can take a water ferry over to the island and an Uber to the hotel Del Coronado. That's one of my favorite places in San Diego and I have lived here for 20 years.
