Options for May

Having stayed on I Drive last year and returning there this year, as well as staying onsite in January (I know thats loads but I am sure you will agree that 1 Disney holiday is never enough) we thought we would try LBV for a May trip.

I have a variety of hotel option but was wondering if anybody had any opinions on the following:

Holiday Inn Sunspree
Shearaton Safari
Fairfield Inn
Country Inn & Suites

Ideally we want to stay in a hotel that is within walking distance to restaurants maybe even a miniture golf course.

Also can anybody give there opinion on Kissimmee. I lasy stayed there 15 years ago and was wondering how it compated to LBV also if anybody knows what the Nikki Bird resort is like.

Can't help much but we have stayed in Nikki Bird as you can see below it was about 8 years ago so it might have changed. When we arrived they gave us a room that had someone in, luckily they were sat on the bed and not in it. Room was OK, Pool OK, the whole place OK nothing special, not somewhere we have never considered going back to. In that area we prefer to stay a mile or so further west at the Best Western Lakeside formerly La Quinta (Formerly Sheraton 4 points). You can usually pick it up for about £20-£25/ night. Using Virgin this Oct Their flight only price was £2,200ish (2x ad +1x ch) Same flights with this hotel for 3 weeks £1,600.

Cannot comment on the LBV hotels, but we have stayed in villas in the Kissimmee area for the last few years.
Cannot really recommend any hotels in the 192 area, have driven past the HI Nikki Bird numerous times although I have never been in.
It just looks like average accomodation to me and one that would not really appeal.

I have stayed in both Kissimee and Lake Buena Vista. I definitely prefer Lake Buena Vista as it is so close to Downtown Disney and I also like Crossroads for the various restaurants and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf! It's also a bit closer to Seaworld and Universal.

I've not stayed in the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird but I did visit it on a travel agents trip I was on last year. It's a much bigger hotel than it looks from the road. Rooms were pretty standard and some rooms were Kidsuites which had a little area sectioned off for the kids. There was a couple of pools to choose from, a volleyball area, games arcade and we ate in Angels Diner which was done up to look like a 50's diner. You can get to Disney in under 10 minutes from there (I stayed a couple of hotels up from there once and timed it ). The hotel seemed pretty good and I wouldn't have a problem sending anyone there.

Out of the 2 areas though LBV would be my first choice and I would choose a hotel there and also one within walking distance of Crossroads.

I stayed in Staybridge Suites which I really liked and they were very spacious. Other hotels that are pretty close to Crossroads are Sheraton Safari, Doubletree Lake Buena Vista, Country Inn and Suites.

I would say Sheraton Safari is walking distance of Crossroads, and there are quite a few restaurants opposite (Shoney's, Chilli's, Macaroni Grill) as well as a Publix and Walgreens that all seemed to be easy walking distance (as we drove past in the car). Hopefully someone who has stayed can confirm and as Scottish Helen says, it is near to Crossroads.

I have always thought the Sheraton Safari looks frun but have never stayed there.
