My kids think AKL Savanah view would the coolest thing. But we are a family of 5 and no, no one still fits into a port-a-crib. Are our only options two rooms or a suite? Would 2 rooms cost less that a suite?

A deluxe savannah view room (queen, bunks, and a daybed) sleeps 5.

If you go the suite route, I have some photos of both a one-bedroom and two-bedroom suite at the AKL: click here for my on-line photos of them.

If you have any questions regarding those suites, please feel free to PM me or to post your questions here. I just adore the AKL. It's such a unique resort.

janet2k, what lovely pictures! I looks at the pics of the GF and YC suites, too ... I think I like the AKL suites the best ... how flattering of you to think I could actually afford one ... at some level practicality kicks in and I'd prefer to remodel my master bathroom ...

Does anyone know if the Deluxe rooms are only on the upper floors? Next years trip our family of 5 will have to get a deluxe room and I would prefer a lower room.

All of the delux rooms are on the top floors of the buildings.

Is the only thing that makes the rooms "deluxe" the fact that they can sleep one more person, or are there additional amenities, nicer decor, etc.?

The room is 3 feet longer which adds more room for the table and chairs and makes the configuration of 1 Queen, bunkbeds and a Daybed not feel as cramped. We had a deluxe room with the above configuration. The Bedspreads and drapes are different than the standard rooms. I thought it was better looking but just by a little bit. A very few of the deluxe rooms have a larger balcony located under one of the "huts". We had one of these and it made our stay incredible. The view of the animals was wonderful.

Are all the balconies in the one bedroom suites straight and narrow? I thought the suite bedrooms were all curved like the 2 bedroom pics you have.

Is it only the highest floor that has the curved balcony?

thanks, mike

There are only 18 of the straw huts with the rounded balcony and they are all on the top floor. In general each rounded balcony goes to two rooms with the semicircle cut in half by a partition but some of them are connected to suites which get the whole semicircle for themselves. At the most (if there were no suites involved) there would be 36 rooms with the partially rounded larger balcony.

FYI ---- There have been multiple posts that not all deluxe rooms can accomodate 5. Some only have beds for 4. So, just be sure you when you book that you make it clear how many people will be in the room. Sounds wonderful!
