Optimistic October 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

This morning, I got a student from a coworker’s class. I was warned that the child is violent like my other student and she is unable to behave herself. That teacher couldn’t manage her so she was transferred to my class for me to handle her. Getting a new student isn’t easy to begin with, but getting another violent one really angered me. It just wasn’t fair. This is the second “problem” student transferred to my room from that class.

WOO HOO!!!
She had a great day!!! She followed directions and behaved all day. She was cooperative and did everything very well. At the end of the day, she made a heart shape with her hands and said, “You get double hearts!”

Excellent!!
I used to have "problem" kids subbing, but I always pretended I didn't know anything about them. A few still had issues, but many had great days because they just needed someone who they weren't starting "already behind" with.

I am trying to be thankful for small things lately, and this morning is was a fun surprise when I went to look something up on the computer - the Google Doodle today is an old-school Pac Man game (but Halloween themed) that you can actually play with the arrow keys! Brought me right back to my childhood :goodvibes

Today I am thankful that I don't have to do a work trip (it has been on, off, on-again and now off... phew!) next weekend and I can take a couple days off attached to Veteran's Day, so in total it'll come to 5 days. Hallelujah. Mostly it'll be re-setting the house and cleaning everything so I can hire a cleaners to start coming in and getting ready for the holidays. But I do need to tuck a few just-for-fun things in there.

Thankful the worst of the rain hasn’t started yet and I was able to get home without getting absolutely drenched.
Thankful that although I couldn’t swing yoga class today I was able to get in a little gym time, did about 3 miles on the bike….of course it didn’t occur to me when I decided on the bike instead of the treadmill that I had parked in the garage and had to trek up two flights of stairs in my heels oops. At least I didn’t choose the elliptical today

Yesterday was the strangest day communication wise, with things coming in sideways thru backdoors, having to chase stuff down, figure out the question behind the question, get the answer back to the right people etc. Hopefully today is not more of the same.

The main section of town is closed to traffic this afternoon for the annual Halloween party. I'm planning on walking down to see what is what.

It is going to be nice to have two days off this weekend, after having had only one day off last weekend it is going to feel like a proper holiday.

Trick or treating was interrupted by a work call but I was as able to walk my manager through enough via FaceTime to enable us finishing up trick to treating at a reasonable pace.

Had a weird one the other day. I was listening to a podcast on YouTube when an ASMR ad came on and whatever sound they were amplifying just went like down my spine. I couldn’t deal it was making me shaky and almost nauseous. Has that ever happened to anyone else? I don’t recall ever being that bothered by a noise before!

I googled ASMR, because I don’t know what it is. I still don’t have any understanding of it or if I have had a similar experience.

We had a fun Halloween at school in spite of the outrageous behavior. The costumes seemed to make him feel uneasy which didn’t help. It was a long day even though I had a lot of fun things planned.

TGIF. It’s good to be home. DD is party hopping tonight. I will be staying up to wait for her to get home.

We had a good Halloween - some friends have a 3-year-old and a new baby, so we went over to see their costumes and then came back here to hand out candy.

Tomorrow will hopefully be pretty chill, then Sunday we are going to a Brew Fest with food trucks and stuff.
